Mining Industry Association at Multiple Levels of Governance

Mining Industry Association at Multiple Levels of Governance PDF Author: Aynsley Kellow
Publisher: Cambridge Scholars Publishing
ISBN: 1527578321
Category : Political Science
Languages : en
Pages : 225

Book Description
Many books on interest groups study how they conduct themselves in politics, and rather take for granted their existence. Unusually, this book examines the reasons why, for many years, there was no global level group representing the mining and non-ferrous metals industry and how the sector found a basis for association at the turn of the millennium, in response to the globalisation of environmental policy and the emerging focus on sustainable development. The associated reconfiguration of compétences at the national and state levels in Australia is also shown to have had important consequences for sector associability at those levels. In short, it examines the changing associability of a business sector at what Theodore Lowi described as three levels of governance: macro, meso and micro. The book draws on interviews with key participants and extensive archival research.

Mining and Energy Law

Mining and Energy Law PDF Author: Samantha Hepburn
Publisher: Cambridge University Press
ISBN: 1009233874
Category : Law
Languages : en
Pages : 415

Book Description
Mining and Energy Law provides students with a comprehensive overview of the national electricity, resources and energy markets and how they are regulated. The second edition has been comprehensively updated to include new content on the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea, Australian Energy Market Commission, the gas export market, resource royalties and environmental impact assessments. It also discusses the impacts of climate change and environmental regulation on energy policies in Australia, including climate legislation, the regulation of renewable energy sources, initiatives such as carbon capture and storage, and the transition away from fossil fuels. Each chapter includes lists of further reading and review questions to engage students with the various aspects of the energy and resources sectors. Updated case and legislation extracts articulate the nature of the regulatory and statutory obligations that Australia's mining, offshore and onshore petroleum, natural gas and resources companies must adhere to.
