Book Description
The creatures of legend have come upon hard times. Their power stems from human belief, but humans believe in "Science" now. We have little use for magic. Even Coyote - shiftiest and most adaptable of them all - can't quite comprehend this new view of reality. He refuses to accept defeat, however, and devises a plan to have himself reborn without memories so that he can grow up within our contemporary culture, and fully understand our way of thinking. And where would Coyote go for formative guidance, anyway? Why, a commune, of course. Sunbow Farms, to be precise. It's peaceful, wild, and very private. Very private indeed. Marijuana plantations are like that. So the Narks have come and raided his new home - Coyote can deal with that. And there's the flood, of course, and trigger-happy coyote-blasting neighbors, and troublemaking by Coyote's magical Spirit Pups . . . all no problem. Even local prejudice against his all-too-coyotish appearance can be dealt with, somehow. It's those death threats from Fox that are hard to take. How can Fox say that Coyote needs to be killed for his own good? That just doesn't make sense.Michael Bergey is a veterinarian who lives in the Wynoochee Valley in Washington.

Coyote Nation

Coyote Nation PDF Author: Pablo Mitchell
Publisher: University of Chicago Press
ISBN: 0226532526
Category : History
Languages : en
Pages : 253

Book Description
With the arrival of the transcontinental railroad in the 1880s came the emergence of a modern and profoundly multicultural New Mexico. Native Americans, working-class Mexicans, elite Hispanos, and black and white newcomers all commingled and interacted in the territory in ways that had not been previously possible. But what did it mean to be white in this multiethnic milieu? And how did ideas of sexuality and racial supremacy shape ideas of citizenry and determine who would govern the region? Coyote Nation considers these questions as it explores how New Mexicans evaluated and categorized racial identities through bodily practices. Where ethnic groups were numerous and—in the wake of miscegenation—often difficult to discern, the ways one dressed, bathed, spoke, gestured, or even stood were largely instrumental in conveying one's race. Even such practices as cutting one's hair, shopping, drinking alcohol, or embalming a deceased loved one could inextricably link a person to a very specific racial identity. A fascinating history of an extraordinarily plural and polyglot region, Coyote Nation will be of value to historians of race and ethnicity in American culture.

Coyote Tales

Coyote Tales PDF Author: Thomas King
Publisher: Groundwood Books Ltd
ISBN: 1554988357
Category : Juvenile Fiction
Languages : en
Pages : 61

Book Description
Two tales, set in a time “when animals and human beings still talked to each other,” display Thomas King’s cheeky humor and master storytelling skills. Freshly illustrated and reissued as an early chapter book, these stories are perfect for newly independent readers. In Coyote Sings to the Moon, Old Woman and the animals sing to the moon each night. Coyote attempts to join them, but his voice is so terrible they beg him to stop. He is crushed and lashes out — who needs Moon anyway? Furious, Moon dives into a pond, plunging the world into darkness. But clever Old Woman comes up with a plan to send Moon back up into the sky and, thanks to Coyote, there she stays. In Coyote’s New Suit, mischievous Raven wreaks havoc when she suggests that Coyote’s toasty brown suit is not the finest in the forest, thus prompting him to steal suits belonging to all the other animals. Meanwhile, Raven tells the other animals to borrow clothes from the humans’ camp. When Coyote finds that his closet is too full, Raven slyly suggests he hold a yard sale, then sends the human beings (in their underwear) and the animals (in their ill-fitting human clothes) along for the fun. A hilarious illustration of the consequences of wanting more than we need. Ford Coyote Engines: How to Build Max Performance

Ford Coyote Engines: How to Build Max Performance PDF Author: Jim Smart
Publisher: Sa Design
ISBN: 9781613252895
Category : Transportation
Languages : en
Pages : 0

Book Description
Realize your Ford Coyote engine's full potential by using this detailed resource as a guide to select the right parts for the street or the strip. Veteran Ford writer and historian, Jim Smart, explains and highlights all of the latest and greatest options to achieve more horsepower and torque, and of course, faster quarter-mile times in Ford Coyote Engines: How to Build Max Performance. Some upgrades included are engine building techniques, cold-air induction kits, supercharger and pulley kits, better exhaust headers, fuel system and ECU tuning upgrades, and more. Both Ford and the aftermarket have produced an array of parts to squeeze even more power out of your Coyote. Ford introduced its first "clean slate design" V-8 engines in the early 1990s in Ford, Lincoln, and Mercury models. Known as the "Modular" engine family, the 4.6L engines employed new overhead cams, multi-valve performance, distributorless ignition, and more. This engine had new technology for its time, and it proved to be an extremely durable workhorse that logged hundreds of thousands of miles in police and taxi applications as well as light-duty trucks. And, of course, hotter versions, and even supercharged versions, found their way into performance applications such as Mustang GTs and Cobras. By 2011, Ford wanted something hotter and more current, especially for its flagship Mustang GT and GT350 models, which were suddenly competing with new 6.2L LS3 engines in Camaros and 6.4L Hemi engines in Challengers. Enter Ford's new 5.0L "Coyote" engine with Twin Independent Variable Cam Timing (Ti-VCT); it was an evolution of the earlier 4.6L and 5.4L Modular designs. Although the new Coyote engine had increased displacement, it still had far fewer cubes than the competition. Despite less displacement, the Coyote could hold its own against bigger Chevy and Chrysler mills thanks to advanced technology, such as 4V heads with better port and valvetrain geometry. The Coyote is also Ford's first foray into technology that includes Ti-VCT and cam-torque-actuated (CTA) function, which is a fancy way of saying variable cam timing for an incredible power curve over a broader RPM range. Even with all of this new technology, there is always room for improvement. If you are looking for even more power from your new Coyote, look no further than this volume.
