Motion Vision

Motion Vision PDF Author: Johannes M. Zanker
Publisher: Springer Science & Business Media
ISBN: 3642565506
Category : Science
Languages : en
Pages : 424

Book Description
In six parts, this book considers the extent to which computational, neural, and ecological constraints have shaped the mechanisms underlying motion vision: - Early Motion Vision - Motion Signals for Local and Global Analysis - Optical Flow Patterns - Motion Vision in Action - Neural Coding of Motion - Motion in Natural Environments Each topic is introduced by a keynote chapter which is accompanied by several companion articles. Written by an international group of experts in neurobiology, psychophysics, animal behaviour, machine vision, and robotics, the book is designed to explore as comprehensively as possible the present state of knowledge concerning the principal factors that have guided the evolution of motion vision.

Optic Flow and Beyond

Optic Flow and Beyond PDF Author: L.M. Vaina
Publisher: Springer Science & Business Media
ISBN: 9781402020919
Category : Medical
Languages : en
Pages : 542

Book Description
Optic flow provides all the information necessary to guide a walking human or a mobile robot to its target. Over the past 50 years, a body of research on optic flow spanning the disciplines of neurophysiology, psychophysics, experimental psychology, brain imaging and computational modelling has accumulated. Today, when we survey the field, we find independent lines of research have now converged and many arguments have been resolved; simultaneously the underpinning assumptions of flow theory are being questioned and alternative accounts of the visual guidance of locomotion proposed. At this critical juncture, this volume offers a timely review of what has been learnt and pointers to where the field is going.

New Trends in Neural Computation

New Trends in Neural Computation PDF Author: José Mira
Publisher: Springer Science & Business Media
ISBN: 9783540567981
Category : Computers
Languages : en
Pages : 772

Book Description
Neural computation arises from the capacity of nervous tissue to process information and accumulate knowledge in an intelligent manner. Conventional computational machines have encountered enormous difficulties in duplicatingsuch functionalities. This has given rise to the development of Artificial Neural Networks where computation is distributed over a great number of local processing elements with a high degree of connectivityand in which external programming is replaced with supervised and unsupervised learning. The papers presented in this volume are carefully reviewed versions of the talks delivered at the International Workshop on Artificial Neural Networks (IWANN '93) organized by the Universities of Catalonia and the Spanish Open University at Madrid and held at Barcelona, Spain, in June 1993. The 111 papers are organized in seven sections: biological perspectives, mathematical models, learning, self-organizing networks, neural software, hardware implementation, and applications (in five subsections: signal processing and pattern recognition, communications, artificial vision, control and robotics, and other applications).

Integrating Computational and Neural Findings in Visual Object Perception

Integrating Computational and Neural Findings in Visual Object Perception PDF Author: Judith C. Peters
Publisher: Frontiers Media SA
ISBN: 2889198731
Category : Neurosciences. Biological psychiatry. Neuropsychiatry
Languages : en
Pages : 139

Book Description
The articles in this Research Topic provide a state-of-the-art overview of the current progress in integrating computational and empirical research on visual object recognition. Developments in this exciting multidisciplinary field have recently gained momentum: High performance computing enabled breakthroughs in computer vision and computational neuroscience. In parallel, innovative machine learning applications have recently become available for datamining the large-scale, high resolution brain data acquired with (ultra-high field) fMRI and dense multi-unit recordings. Finally, new techniques to integrate such rich simulated and empirical datasets for direct model testing could aid the development of a comprehensive brain model. We hope that this Research Topic contributes to these encouraging advances and inspires future research avenues in computational and empirical neuroscience.

Visual Communication

Visual Communication PDF Author: Ajay Kumar
Publisher: Global India Publications
ISBN: 9788190721110
Category : Advertising media planning
Languages : en
Pages : 352

Book Description
A valuable resource book for plant operations, and human relations managers, this text discusses how successful companies develop meeting and communication areas, communicate work standard production controls and make goals and progress visible. This book explains why conventional work areas, where fragmented information flows from "top to bottom," must be replaced by the "visual workplace" where information flows in every direction. It details how visual management can make the factory a place where workers and supervisors freely communicate so that every employee could take improvement action.
