BY ANALYTICAL STUDIES AND RELATIVE COMPARISON THE TECHNIQUE CAN BE DEVELOPED INTO A RELIABLE NONDESTRUCTIVE TEST. THE EQUIPMENT COST AND THE SKILL REQUIRED TO DO ROUTINE NONDESTRUCTIVE TESTING OF FUEL ELEMENTS WOULD NOT BE NEAR AS DEMANDING AS THE PRESENT DESTRUCTIVE TESTING OF SWAGE JOINTS.
