Book Description
Nature's Kiss is a romantic fantasy about change and transformation. Faye Bloomberg is 36 and a high school English teacher on Cape Cod. She's had a lifelong passion for fantasy, but aside from playing pretend as a young girl with her friend Wanda and reading fantasy novels as an adult, her life has been rather ordinary. She does have a boyfriend, Drake Hershfeld, who is 42 and very hot, but also very practical and commitment phobic. He admits he likes Faye because she's low maintenance and also loves sex. They see each other on weekends and Faye has, up until now, accepted this "reasonable" arrangement. Then Faye's life becomes entangled with one of her students, a 10th grader, previously home-schooled, named Ariella Cardona. Other students and even faculty have nicknames for Ariella such as, "The Dreamer," "Spooky Kabuki" and "Airy Fairy" because she dresses and acts like she's from another time and place. Ariella lives in the Punkhorn Forest in a 300 year old, fairy tale cottage with her actress/model/herbalist mother, Calista. Faye visits the cottage because she's worried about Ariella's future and wants to give her extra help, especially with a standardized test. Calista agrees to Faye providing help and even asks if Ariella can stay with Faye for a weekend while she, Calista, travels to California on movie business. Faye is thrilled at the opportunity to be a surrogate mom. But the weekend turns into something strange and wonderful and Faye's life begins to transform into a real-life fantasy. She dreams about a beautiful green man, has over the top sex with Drake, and, with Ariella's guidance, begins to believe in Nature Spirits, even after she's almost seduced and then chased by a an evil Swarm. And that's just the beginning! Please Note: does contain some graphic sexual content.

Kissed by a Fox

Kissed by a Fox PDF Author: Priscilla Stuckey
Publisher: National Geographic Books
ISBN: 1582438129
Category : Body, Mind & Spirit
Languages : en
Pages : 0

Book Description
"Dissatisfaction with nature flows throughout Western civilization, as deep as its blood, as abiding as its bones. Convinced to the marrow that something is deeply wrong with nature, . . . the Western world tries to remake it into something better." For Priscilla Stuckey, this is a fundamental and heartbreaking misconception: that nature can be fixed, exploited, or simply ignored. Modern societies try to bend nature to human will instead of engaging in give–and–take with a living, breathing land community. Using her personal experiences as the cornerstone, Stuckey explores the depth of relationship possible with the birch tree in our backyard, the nearby urban creek, the dog who settles on our bed each night. Drawing inspiration from sources as varied as ancient philosophers and contemporary biologists, Stuckey challenges readers to enact a different story of nature, one in which people and place are not separate, where other creatures respond to human need, and where humans and all others together create the world. With the eloquence of the great nature writers before her, Stuckey encourages us to open ourselves to the unlimited possibilities of a truly connected life.

Churches and the Crisis of Decline (Ministry in a Secular Age Book #4)

Churches and the Crisis of Decline (Ministry in a Secular Age Book #4) PDF Author: Andrew Root
Publisher: Baker Academic
ISBN: 1493434950
Category : Religion
Languages : en
Pages : 430

Book Description
Named One of Fifteen Important Theology Books of 2022, Englewood Review of Books Congregations often seek to combat the crisis of decline by using innovation to produce new resources. But leading practical theologian Andrew Root shows that the church's crisis is not in the loss of resources; it's in the loss of life--and that life can only return when we remain open to God's encountering presence. This book addresses the practical form the church must take in a secular age. Root uses two stories to frame the book: one about a church whose building becomes a pub and the other about Karl Barth. Root argues that Barth should be understood as a pastor with a deep practical theology that can help church leaders today. Churches and the Crisis of Decline pushes the church to be a waiting community that recognizes that the only way for it to find life is to stop seeing the church as the star of its own story. Instead of resisting decline, congregations must remain open to divine action. Root offers a rich vision for the church's future that moves away from an obsession with relevance and resources and toward the living God. This is the fourth book in Root's Ministry in a Secular Age series.

When Time and Eternity Kiss

When Time and Eternity Kiss PDF Author: Sean Maddox
Publisher: Balboa Press
ISBN: 1504362195
Category : Philosophy
Languages : en
Pages : 740

Book Description
A LIFE-CHANGING SPIRITUAL MASTERWORK ON GOD, HUMAN DESTINY, AND THE BIBLE A UNIQUE SPIRITUAL JOURNEY GUIDE When Time and Eternity Kiss is a boldly provocative and highly original new interpretation of the Bible--a page-turner for believers, seekers, skeptics, and secularists alike. By harmonizing the Bible with 21st c. quantum physics and the "Big Bang" theory, Maddox leads us into the labyrinth of God's mind. What are we? Where do we come from? Do we have a destiny? The Bible proclaims: "You are gods." What does that mean? Is there an objective reality or just the illusion of one, as Eastern spiritual traditions assert, quantum physics theorizes, and Einstein suggested? In When Time and Eternity Kiss, author Sean Maddox argues passionately that the Bible answers life's most perplexing questions. He supports his propositions by integrating wisdom and insight from mythologies, biblical Hebrew, Kabbalah, Hindu Chakras, Buddhism, psychology, archetypal symbolism, dream work, and quantum physics. His multidisciplinary perspective allows readers to see with new eyes how the Bible is the spiritual guide par excellence to the psycho-spiritual evolution of divine and human consciousness. INSPIRED, GROUNDBREAKING SCHOLARSHIP This revolutionary work is the culmination of the author's twenty-five-year journey of psycho-spiritual inquiry, study, and singular personal sacrifices. Maddox emerges as a daringly independent scholar and visionary who peers into the Bible's riveting mysteries and reveals God's Feminine Side in the texts. Aptly titled, When Time and Eternity Kiss is a passionate cosmic love story from start to finish. At the climax of the book, Maddox upends traditional interpretations as he illuminates the two Genesis Creation stories and shares his vision of why God shattered the silence of Eternity to create life in time and space. In radiant lucid prose, Maddox restores the Bible to 21st c. relevancy as the cornerstone of Western civilization.

A Light in Dark Places

A Light in Dark Places PDF Author: Daniel Sykes
Publisher: Xlibris Corporation
ISBN: 1514495317
Category : Poetry

Pages : 198

Book Description
I worked as a welder fabricator for twenty-five years, and along the way and as long as I can remember, I enjoyed a crowded room for enough time as was shared in my own space with or without company in the time I would love to relax. Relaxing others who were a little pushy with questions most wouldnt answer also came to me a fair bit, and I would enjoy actually saying something in another way other than that which they most likely expected and were looking for to transpose thoughts which just pop in the mind without even touching the sides; and without provocative thoughts entering their heads; and this would actually relax them and ease all words to the flow of other surrounding conversations that they now would if they wished more easily be able to join. I had a lot of thought regarding my ability to defuse trouble which was always liked even by those who stirred the strings just to get an answer which if I wanted may give: or use one of the other ways of reacting which I could choose in ensuring quality time which is short for not only myself but the others with and around me. Sometimes when people brought things up that made others hush to hear the reply I would take the opportunity to say something anyway even though I didnt have to with a little thought and Witt; and make the others laugh at the good old Aussie come backs being used: even the ones that had to have more than a one line; and if you could do it in two every one smiles; and so poetry there was in the motion of freely playing the game of sharing the fun of showing the humour in good conversation.
