Book Description
Excerpt from The Natural History, Organization and Late Development of the Teredinidae: Dissertation The object of my study of the ship-worms has been two fold. In the first place, I have endeavored, by the use of modern methods, to give a detailed account of the organization of this highly specialized Lamellibranch and to correct the errors that have heretofore existed in the descriptions of it. In the second pl ace, by the study of young stages, I have been able to trace the transformation of the typical Lamellibranch larva into the highly specialized ship-worm.
