Book Description
"MY NAVY CROSS --Something I'm Not Proud Of" ! is"FOUR-BOOKS IN ONE"! First book: The evolution of this opus came about as a result of author's brother Duane's invitation to WWI fly-ins. WWI Sopwith Camel with cartoon character Snoopy the dog as pilot shooting at the fleeing Red Baron in his tri-wing red Fokker. Many believe that no enemy ever attacked the US in the war! Not true! (German submarines sank 11 US ships on East Coast in one day.) Author's personal situation did not allow him to compose a book. (Having cancer many times, building our own home.) Then assistance evolved: two automobiles, a new computer, thousands of dollars, imput from other interested parties. After author's presentation at Kansas State University's CELEBRATION OF FREEDOM, comments included: "You must write the book, otherwise an important part of history will be lost forever". Second book: The amount of research involved and those that were willing to go against the policy to copy needed information. Being threatened to be arrested, then having hundreds of classified dockets declassified and copied! Authors such as OVERTHE FRONT WWI author Richard T. Whistler states that he had never seen information that we acquired! Shocking is the interference from beyond! Comfort came from reading about Winston Churchill's statement: "I sometimes have a feeling -- in fact, I have it very strongly -- a feeling of interference. I want to stress it. I have a feeling sometimes that some guiding hand has interfered." Also is the book FLIGHT OF THE FORGOTTEN by airline pilot Mark A. Vance as he tells of his deceased uncle's appearance & conversations. Other WWI authors and relatives verifying my "visions" concerning information never disclosed to others! My mother appears in one vision and states that the book is a "D..." and I respond with many guesses .. Division, Deception, Discussion, with a "NO" to all! Then she appears in a Quaker dress and shoes! "But Mom" I repiy, "you were never a Quaker!" "Look up the term Quaker" she responds. So I check the dictionary. I find it is a term of DERISION! "Yes it is a DERISION!" Then I pry the dictionary out of my wife's tight grip and startled condition and find that a DERISION includes a term of ridicule and/or scorn, even a lawsuit that was later dropped. Third Book: The twelve escapes from death with many declassified documents to support such! Emphasis on the unprepared condition of the USA for war, the hesitation of shipments of troops with the Pandemic Flu claiming 200 of 1,000 -- should the US not ship troops? Frustration with no American war planes! ZIMMERMAN LETTER & Mexico's reclaiming territory lost to the US. THE STORY IS WRITTEN AS IF AUTHOR'S FATHER IS TELLING THE STORY ABOUT HIS EXPERIENCES TO INCLUDE WHY HE WAS NOT PROUD OF BEING AWARDED THE NAVY CROSS! In another incident -- can you imagine what it was like being shot at in the North Sea for almost four hours, others around you being killed, being blasted "50 feet out of the water" then rescued by two British officers who swam out about 1,000 meters, and with one on each side of a boat cushion, pushed Coash to the shore, dragged him across enemy fire into a trench for days and then on to a hospital as he could not walk! Other experiences are detailed and supported with documentation and many photos -- many pictures taken by Coash himself. Coash had stood up during one flight and as he sat back down there were bullet holes in the seat. Fourth Book: Life as a disabled veteran (verified by employers that fired Coash for not performing) and two-month stays in Veteran's hospitals while the community "passed the hat" to feed his family. Then the encounter in the Coash Garage with the "Enemy in the Coash Garage" -- "But I killed you in the war!" As a trained war photographer Coash took many of the pictures that are in the Opus. Category : Biography & Autobiography
Languages : en
Pages : 444

Book Description
Explosive, revealing, and intelligent, The Red Circle provides a uniquely personal glimpse into one of the most challenging and secretive military training courses in the world. Now including an excerpt from The Killing School: Inside the World's Deadliest Sniper Program BEFORE HE COULD FORGE A BAND OF ELITE WARRIORS... HE HAD TO BECOME ONE HIMSELF. Brandon Webb's experiences in the world's most elite sniper corps are the stuff of legend. From his grueling years of training in Naval Special Operations to his combat tours in the Persian Gulf and Afghanistan, The Red Circle provides a rare and riveting look at the inner workings of the U.S. military through the eyes of a covert operations specialist. Yet it is Webb's distinguished second career as a lead instructor for the shadowy "sniper cell" and Course Manager of the Navy SEAL Sniper Program that trained some of America's finest and deadliest warriors-including Marcus Luttrell and Chris Kyle-that makes his story so compelling. Luttrell credits Webb's training with his own survival during the ill-fated 2005 Operation Redwing in Afghanistan. Kyle went on to become the U.S. military's top marksman, with more than 150 confirmed kills. From a candid chronicle of his student days, going through the sniper course himself, to his hair-raising close calls with Taliban and al Qaeda forces in the northern Afghanistan wilderness, to his vivid account of designing new sniper standards and training some of the most accomplished snipers of the twenty-first century, Webb provides a rare look at the making of the Special Operations warriors who are at the forefront of today's military.

My Men are My Heroes

My Men are My Heroes PDF Author: Nathaniel Helms
Publisher: Naval Institute Press
ISBN: 1612511376
Category : Biography & Autobiography

Pages : 238

Book Description
My Men Are My Heroes introduces its readers to a living standard of Marine Corps esprit de corps and military decorum. Sergeant Major Bradley Kasal, the pride of Iowa, is a small town boy who wanted to be a United States Marine even before a poster perfect Marine recruiter marched into his high school gym and offered him a challenge Kasal couldn’t resist. Two decades later Kasal stood stiffly at attention, one leg literally shot in half, while the Navy Cross was pinned to his chest. Kasal is currently the Sergeant Major of the Infantry School at Camp Pendleton, CA until he retires in May, 2012. After a brief visit to his childhood Kasal’s story quickly gathers steam, introducing the reader to his early Marine career; adventure filled years that earned him the name “Robo-Grunt” from men who don’t offer accolades easily. Kasal uses his experience climbing the ranks to illustrate how Marines grow, and how they are shaped by the uncompromising attitudes of the officers and non-coms charged with turning young Marines into tigers. Kasal’s adventures culminate in Iraq. By now he is 1st Sergeant Kasal, ramrodding Kilo Company, 3/1, a rifle company in 3rd Battalion, 1st Marines, the mighty “Thunder Third” that would cover itself with glory in 2004. Two days into Operation Iraqi Freedom in March 2003 Kilo is ordered to hold open a critical road between two bridges that Saddam’s fierce Fedayeen Saddam were just as determined to take away. Kasal makes in his stand on that road, literally standing tall amidst fierce gunfire, demonstrating the kind of leadership Kilo Company needed to get the job done. Kilo’s fight was part of the first big test of Marine Corps combat capabilities in the second Iraqi War and the only major engagement the Marine Corps fought during the heady days of the “Drive Up” to Baghdad. When it was over the so-called “Ninjas” of the Fedayeen Saddam were smashed. A week later Kasal was in Baghdad, welcomed with open arms by the exuberant population. A year later 3/1 was back to Iraq, in Anbar Province, the epicenter of the brutal war now raging in the former tribal stronghold of Saddam and his henchmen. The smiling faces that had greeted 3/1 the year before were gone. Kasal is the 1st Sergeant of Weapons Company, 3/1, the armored fist of a light infantry battalion. After four months of ambushes, IEDs, and deadly skirmishes 3/1 is ordered into Fallujah, to take the ancient city back from Al Qaeda and the foreign fighters who had turned the ancient “City of Mosques” into a fortress. It is there, in November, 2004 that the “Thundering Third” entered into Marine Corps legend and Kasal into the Pantheon of Heroes for his actions during the most savage battle the Marines fought in the Iraq War. At a non-descript house in a walled neighborhood in Fallujah Kasal, at the time accompanying a squad of Kilo’s riflemen into a contested house, becomes involved in a close-quarter duel with fanatical Chechen fighters. The fight rages throughout the house, at times Marines and the foreign fighters were exchanging rifle fire and grenades at ranges of less than 10 feet. For almost two hours the squad is trapped inside the house. During the brawl Kasal is shot seven times, almost loses his leg when it is nearly severed from his body, and sustains 47shrapnel wounds when he used his body to shield a wounded Marine laying next to him from an enemy grenade. In the skirmish, forever known as the “Hell House” fight, Kasal was awarded the Navy Cross, the nation’s second highest award for heroism."
