Excerpt from Memories of My Youth, 1844-1865 My record of the events of the earlier years is based in part upon some home letters of my own which had for tunately escaped destruction, and in part upon my memory of conversations with my father. It is quite possible that for some portions of the narrative which were not covered by such letters or conversations, my memory may be at fault in regard to one detail or another, but I hope that the oversights will not be found important. Memories and Impressions
Author: George Charles Brodrick
Publisher: Forgotten Books
ISBN: 9780266195467
Category : Biography & Autobiography
Languages : en
Pages : 440
Book Description
Excerpt from Memories and Impressions: 1831-1900 The present volume has not the character of an Autobiography; nor, indeed, could its author plead any of the usual excuses for publishing a Memoir of himself. It is not the life-history of one who has attained to eminence; it is not the record of an eventful career; it contains few, if any, graphic pictures of remarkable scenes or remarkable men. Since I am not one who has kept a diary, some noteworthy incidents have doubtless escaped my recollection; while, on the other hand, I have been under no temptation to insert extracts on matters of slight importance.
