Control Systems for Heating, Ventilating and Air Conditioning

Control Systems for Heating, Ventilating and Air Conditioning PDF Author: R. Haines
Publisher: Springer Science & Business Media
ISBN: 1468465937
Category : Science
Languages : en
Pages : 254

Book Description
There are two reasons why we have a new edition every four or five years. The first is that technology changes. Chapter 10, on computer-based con trols, has had to be almost completely rewritten. Fundamentals don't change, but the tools available to us do change. Evaluation and proper use of those tools makes it even more imperative that we understand fundamentals. Many of our control problems stem from the use of new devices as a solution to problems that are, in fact, control design errors. New gadgets, for example, Direct Digital Controls (DDC), will not solve basic problems and may even compound them. None-the-Iess, you will find an extensive discussion of DDC because I think it is the probable "future" in HVAC control. But it must be applied with a good understanding of fundamentals. The second reason is that I keep learning and need to pass on my new and improved understanding to my readers. Thus you will find a number of small but important revisions, a dissertation on control "modes," and a much more detailed discussion of how electronic control devices work. There are a few places where I have corrected what I now perceive to be errors. I apologize for these. I have been much encouraged by the acceptance of this book in the past, and I hope that this new edition will be helpful. Thank you for your support.

Control Systems for Heating, Ventilating, and Air Conditioning

Control Systems for Heating, Ventilating, and Air Conditioning PDF Author: Roger W. Haines
Publisher: Springer Science & Business Media
ISBN: 0387305211
Category : Technology & Engineering
Languages : en
Pages : 376

Book Description
Control Systems for Heating, Ventilating and Air Conditioning, Sixth Edition is complete and covers both hardware control systems and modern control technology. The material is presented without bias and without prejudice toward particular hardware or software. Readers with an engineering degree will be reminded of the psychrometric processes associated with heating and air conditioning as they learn of the various controls schemes used in the variety of heating and air conditioning system types they will encountered in the field. Maintenance technicians will also find the book useful because it describes various control hardware and control strategies that were used in the past and are prevalent in most existing heating and air conditioning systems. Designers of new systems will find the fundamentals described in this book to be a useful starting point, and they will also benefit from descriptions of new digital technologies and energy management systems. This technology is found in modern building HVAC system designs.

Modulating and Mixing Characteristics of Air Flow Dampers

Modulating and Mixing Characteristics of Air Flow Dampers PDF Author: Pankaj Vishnu Hande
Publisher:
ISBN:
Category : Air flow
Languages : en
Pages : 324

Book Description
"The performance of air flow control dampers is critical to indoor air quality, reliability, energy efficiency and overall performance of heating, ventilating, and air-conditioning (HVAC) system. Control characteristics and mixing characteristics of flow control dampers play important roles in accurate sizing and selection of air flow dampers. Part of the current thesis is an extension of American Society of Heating Refrigerating and Air-conditioning (ASHRAE) RP-1157 which presents the data from experiments conducted on six types of dampers...A later part of the thesis is based on recommendations of ASHRAE RP-1045 to study the mixing characteristic of the air flow damper using Computational Fluid Dynamics CFD) techniques"--Abstract, leaf iii.

Automatic Controls for Heating and Air Conditioning

Automatic Controls for Heating and Air Conditioning PDF Author: K. M. Letherman
Publisher: Elsevier
ISBN: 1483188620
Category : Technology & Engineering
Languages : en
Pages : 250

Book Description
International Series in Heating and Ventilation, Volume 15: Automatic Controls for Heating and Air Conditioning: Principles and Applications details the relationship between theory and practice in implementing an automated system for thermal regulation. The title first deals with the sensors and methods for quantifying the two variables mainly of interest in building services systems, temperature and humidity. Next, the selection covers the application of controls to a number of specific areas of building environmental services. The text also discusses controller mechanisms and circuits, along with controller characteristics. The fifth chapter deals with basic theory of linear automatic control, while the sixth chapter talks about the analysis of non-linear systems. The book will be of great interest to engineers and technicians who deal with cooling and heating systems.

Building Services Engineering

Building Services Engineering PDF Author: David V. Chadderton
Publisher: Routledge
ISBN: 1134124287
Category : Architecture
Languages : en
Pages : 562

Book Description
Updated and expanded, this core textbook introduces the range of building services found within modern buildings. In this fifth edition coverage has been broadened as a response to the trend towards low energy mechanical services systems for the heating and cooling of buildings. New chapters have been included on mechanical transportation and on understanding units. Now accompanied by a new instructor’s resource, it is extensively illustrated with fully worked examples of all numerical problems and student-centred problems, complemented by full answers. Suitable for distance learning and with a broad international applicability, Building Services Engineering provides for the higher education of building industry professionals, whether on higher certificate, higher diploma, undergraduate courses or graduate level conversion courses, across the building technology, architectural, surveying and services engineering disciplines.
