Mathematical Analysis in Interdisciplinary Research
Author: Ioannis N. Parasidis
Publisher: Springer Nature
ISBN: 3030847217
Category : Mathematics
Languages : en
Pages : 1050
Book Description
This contributed volume provides an extensive account of research and expository papers in a broad domain of mathematical analysis and its various applications to a multitude of fields. Presenting the state-of-the-art knowledge in a wide range of topics, the book will be useful to graduate students and researchers in theoretical and applicable interdisciplinary research. The focus is on several subjects including: optimal control problems, optimal maintenance of communication networks, optimal emergency evacuation with uncertainty, cooperative and noncooperative partial differential systems, variational inequalities and general equilibrium models, anisotropic elasticity and harmonic functions, nonlinear stochastic differential equations, operator equations, max-product operators of Kantorovich type, perturbations of operators, integral operators, dynamical systems involving maximal monotone operators, the three-body problem, deceptive systems, hyperbolic equations, strongly generalized preinvex functions, Dirichlet characters, probability distribution functions, applied statistics, integral inequalities, generalized convexity, global hyperbolicity of spacetimes, Douglas-Rachford methods, fixed point problems, the general Rodrigues problem, Banach algebras, affine group, Gibbs semigroup, relator spaces, sparse data representation, Meier-Keeler sequential contractions, hybrid contractions, and polynomial equations. Some of the works published within this volume provide as well guidelines for further research and proposals for new directions and open problems.

Interdisciplinary Research in Technology and Management
Author: Satyajit Chakrabarti
Publisher: CRC Press
ISBN: 1000820823
Category : Business & Economics
Languages : en
Pages : 395
Book Description
We live in an inter-connected world. In the era of Industry 4.0, technology is getting embedded more and more in the way ‘we learn, live, work, and play’. This progression is accelerating at a pace never seen before. Interdisciplinary and collaborative research across disciplines within the Technology domain and Management domain, and across the Technology-Management interface is opening up exciting new possibilities for solving problems whose solutions are beyond the scope of a single discipline, domain or practice, and helping to create a brave new world. The goal of this conference was to bring together scholars, researchers, consultants, and practitioners to share their interdisciplinary research and consultative work in Technology and Management. Selected papers were then peer-reviewed and authors were invited to present their work in the conference.

The Policies and Politics of Interdisciplinary Research
Author: Séverine Louvel
Publisher: Routledge
ISBN: 0429576943
Category : Social Science
Languages : en
Pages : 184
Book Description
Interdisciplinary research centers are blooming in almost every university, and interdisciplinary research is expected to be a cure-all for the ills of academic science. Do disciplines still matter? To what extent are interdisciplinary problem-solving approaches driven by socioeconomic stakeholders and policymakers rather than by academics? And how is interdisciplinarity organized? Through an in-depth sociological study of the development of nanomedicine in France and in the United States – an area that combines nanotechnology and biomedical research – this book challenges two conventional views of interdisciplinary research and academic disciplines. First, disciplines do not merely form separate "siloes" which hinder the development of interdisciplinary research: rather, they are flexible entities whose evolution supports the long-term institutionalization of interdisciplinary science in French and US academia. Secondly, interdisciplinary research has no intrinsic virtue: its ability to respond to societal issues and advance knowledge depends on continued political support and long-term cooperation between stakeholders. Interdisciplinarity might also be threatened by oversold promises and struggles for recognition. A study of the many challenges facing the formation of creative and sustainable interdisciplinary scientific communities, The Policies and Politics of Interdisciplinary Research tackles vivid debates among academics and research managers and will appeal to scholars of sociology, science and technology studies and science policy.
