CLICK HERE to download a sample advanced, intermediate and beginner route from Backcountry Ski & Snowboard Routes Oregon * Includes 120 black-and-white photos and 90 maps * Routes coverage ranges from Lassen Peak, through Oregon, up to Mount St. Helens The first guidebook in a new Backcountry Ski & Snowboard Series from Mountaineers Books, Backcountry Ski & Snowboard Routes: Oregon describes nearly 100 of the best and most classic mountain routes that will exhilarate and challenge winter backcountry seekers. Although many of these routes are geared toward intermediate and expert skiers and boarders, there are also appropriate routes for those just getting into the backcountry for the first time. Full state coverage includes more than 30 routes on Mount Hood alone, and ranges across Mount Jefferson, the Three Sisters and Bend area, Willamette Pass and Mount Bailey, Crater Lake National Park, the southern Cascades, Steens, and the Wallowas and Blue Mountains regions. There are also classic routes just over the borders -- Mount Shasta and Lassen Peak in Northern California and Mount St. Helens, Mount Adams, and Muir Snowfield in Washington. Many of these routes are selected for their straightforward approaches. Sections describe avalanche safety, best resources, gear, Oregon backcountry laws, and routes by best season and skill level. This is a guidebook to get snowboarders and skiers out in the mountains for quality fun! WHAT THEY'RE SAYING ABOUT BACKCOUNTRY SKI & SNOWBOARD ROUTES OREGON: "Van Tilburg's new book provides extensive, easy-to-read information on the majority of the ski and snowboard objectives in the greater Oregon region and should be considered a mandatory addition to a local backcountry enthusiast's library." -- Off Piste magazine

Hiking Sasquatch Country

Hiking Sasquatch Country PDF Author: Wendy Swanson
Publisher: Createspace Independent Publishing Platform
ISBN: 9781976073533

Languages : en
Pages : 144

Book Description
Our favorite hikes and sightseeing adventures are yours; with GPS coordinates and driving directions to make the trips easy to find. Included is your connection to over 1800 online color photos so you may preview each excursion in advance, and to keep as a permanent record of the trip to view over again, and re-live what we feel to be our adventures of a lifetime! We thoroughly enjoyed our years hiking in Southern Oregon and found ourselves repeating some of them many times over, because there were always new sights, discoveries, branch trails, animals and birds to keep it exciting. Many of our hikes continue far past where we have turned around, and one (The Rogue River Trail) stretches 40 miles one way from Grave Creek to Big Bend. Some of the mountain lake trails have alternate routes where the trails split and head off in opposite directions to eventually meet up again before continuing. Some of these scenic treks are so beautiful that we have not only taken them full circle, but returned again to hike to a halfway point, and then to turn around and return the same way, due to the incredible scenery. Most all of our travels were for pure enjoyment of the magnificence of this gorgeous country; not for the physical torture of extreme exercise. For this reason, many of our adventures are easier to follow than many hikes, because the exertion comes more from the distance traveled than the difficulty of the terrain. So very often, the scenery is so spectacular that one just has to stop in order to appreciate the grandeur of such wild and untouched beauty! This book includes 43 hikes and 38 side trips. During our adventures, we seldom met many travelers, as Southern Oregon's splendor is so vast there could be thousands of hikers in these mountains at the same time, and yet meeting or passing others is a rarity. On occasion, we would meet hikers that carried the excitement of having seen or had an encounter with a Sasquatch, and on those occasions, they were very anxious to share their experience. These stories, along with others we have collected, are contained in our three Sasquatch books (They Saw Sasquatch, Sasquatch Encounters, and Bigfoot Uncovered).
