Este trabajo pretende incidir en el conocimiento sobre la dinámica de modernización de Madrid en el contexto de primer tercio del siglo XX y más específicamente, entre los años 1898 y 1914. Destacan entonces diferentes indicadores de dicha tendencia -poblacionales, urbanísticos, políticos o económicos-, resaltando aspectos como los cambios sufridos en el régimen demográfico, las transformaciones espaciales desarrolladas en el escenario madrileño, los ejes característicos de la política municipal o las conscuencias derivadas de la modernización de los servicios. Para su realización ha sido consultado un amplio repertorio documental, en el que se incluyen archivos privados de miembros de la élite política afincada en la capital, documentación municipal y material hemerográfico.

Graffiti and street art images are ubiquitous, and they enjoy a very special place in collective imaginary due to their ambiguous nature. Sometimes enigmatic in meaning, often stylistically crude and aesthetically aggressive, yet always visually arresting, they fill our field of vision with texts and images that no one can escape.
