Mobility Patterns, Big Data and Transport Analytics

Mobility Patterns, Big Data and Transport Analytics PDF Author: Constantinos Antoniou
Publisher: Elsevier
ISBN: 0128129719
Category : Social Science
Languages : en
Pages : 454

Book Description
Mobility Patterns, Big Data and Transport Analytics provides a guide to the new analytical framework and its relation to big data, focusing on capturing, predicting, visualizing and controlling mobility patterns - a key aspect of transportation modeling. The book features prominent international experts who provide overviews on new analytical frameworks, applications and concepts in mobility analysis and transportation systems. Users will find a detailed, mobility ‘structural’ analysis and a look at the extensive behavioral characteristics of transport, observability requirements and limitations for realistic transportation applications and transportation systems analysis that are related to complex processes and phenomena. This book bridges the gap between big data, data science, and transportation systems analysis with a study of big data’s impact on mobility and an introduction to the tools necessary to apply new techniques. The book covers in detail, mobility ‘structural’ analysis (and its dynamics), the extensive behavioral characteristics of transport, observability requirements and limitations for realistic transportation applications, and transportation systems analysis related to complex processes and phenomena. The book bridges the gap between big data, data science, and Transportation Systems Analysis with a study of big data’s impact on mobility, and an introduction to the tools necessary to apply new techniques. Guides readers through the paradigm-shifting opportunities and challenges of handling Big Data in transportation modeling and analytics Covers current analytical innovations focused on capturing, predicting, visualizing, and controlling mobility patterns, while discussing future trends Delivers an introduction to transportation-related information advances, providing a benchmark reference by world-leading experts in the field Captures and manages mobility patterns, covering multiple purposes and alternative transport modes, in a multi-disciplinary approach Companion website features videos showing the analyses performed, as well as test codes and data-sets, allowing readers to recreate the presented analyses and apply the highlighted techniques to their own data

Book Description
This book gathers together innovative research and practical findings relating to urban mobility transformation. It is especially intended to provide academicians, researchers, practitioners and decision makers with effective strategies and techniques that can support urban mobility in a sustainable way. The chapters, which report on contributions presented at the 5th Conference on Sustainable Urban Mobility, held virtually on June 17-19, 2020, from Greece, cover the thematic areas of: social networks and traveler behavior; applications of technologies in transportation and big data analytics; transport infrastructure and traffic management; and transportation modeling and impact assessment. Special attention is given to public transport and demand responsive systems, electromobility, micromobility and automated vehicles. The book addresses the challenges of the near future, highlighting the importance of knowledge transfer, and it is intended to foster communication among universities, industries and public administration.

Mobility Data

Mobility Data PDF Author: Chiara Renso
Publisher: Cambridge University Press
ISBN: 1107292360
Category : Computers
Languages : en
Pages : 393

Book Description
Mobility of people and goods is essential in the global economy. The ability to track the routes and patterns associated with this mobility offers unprecedented opportunities for developing new, smarter applications in different domains. Much of the current research is devoted to developing concepts, models, and tools to comprehend mobility data and make it manageable for these applications. This book surveys the myriad facets of mobility data, from spatio-temporal data modeling, to data aggregation and warehousing, to data analysis, with a specific focus on monitoring people in motion (drivers, airplane passengers, crowds, and even animals in the wild). Written by a renowned group of worldwide experts, it presents a consistent framework that facilitates understanding of all these different facets, from basic definitions to state-of-the-art concepts and techniques, offering both researchers and professionals a thorough understanding of the applications and opportunities made possible by the development of mobility data.

Network Performance Engineering

Network Performance Engineering PDF Author: Demetres D. Kouvatsos
Publisher: Springer Science & Business Media
ISBN: 3642027415
Category : Business & Economics
Languages : en
Pages : 1073

Book Description
During recent years a great deal of progress has been made in performance modelling and evaluation of the Internet, towards the convergence of multi-service networks of diverging technologies, supported by internetworking and the evolution of diverse access and switching technologies. The 44 chapters presented in this handbook are revised invited works drawn from PhD courses held at recent HETNETs International Working Conferences on Performance Modelling and Evaluation of Heterogeneous Networks. They constitute essential introductory material preparing the reader for further research and development in the field of performance modelling, analysis and engineering of heterogeneous networks and of next and future generation Internets. The handbook aims to unify relevant material already known but dispersed in the literature, introduce the readers to unfamiliar and unexposed research areas and, generally, illustrate the diversity of research found in the high growth field of convergent heterogeneous networks and the Internet. The chapters have been broadly classified into 12 parts covering the following topics: Measurement Techniques; Traffic Modelling and Engineering; Queueing Systems and Networks; Analytic Methodologies; Simulation Techniques; Performance Evaluation Studies; Mobile, Wireless and Ad Hoc Networks, Optical Networks; QoS Metrics and Algorithms; All IP Convergence and Networking; Network Management and Services; and Overlay Networks.

Modelling Future Mobility

Modelling Future Mobility PDF Author:

ISBN: 9789279338892
Category : Sustainable urban development
Languages : en
Pages : 62

Book Description
The aim of the report is to simulate policy scenarios for passenger transport using Europe-wide transport models, estimate their potential impacts and demonstrate how do they differ from each other and from the reference scenario for 2030. In more detail, the main objectives of the deliverable can be given as follows: 1/ to model future multi-modal mobility scenarios for passengers formulated within the previous tasks of the project, 2/ to simulate impacts of identified trends and selected strategies on demand, supply and technology at macro level, 3/ to analyse impacts of selected policies and identified trends on mobility patterns such as in travel demand and modal split, 4/ to estimate potential impacts of selected policy measures on environmental indicators via transport emissions and vehicle fleet sizes, 5/ to compare impacts of different scenario options in quantitative terms and provide useful insights for exploring best policy scenarios and strategies for sustainable passenger transport.
