Ce mémoire traite de la problématique du convertisseur pour une application embarquée dans un véhicule lourd avec un convertisseur de forte puissance fonctionnant en commutation douce. Le premier chapitre est consacré au choix de la structure du convertisseur avec une présentation détaillée de celui-ci. Une quantification des différents paramètres de ce convertisseur est réalisée pour une puissance de 18 kW, une tension de sortie de 400V et une source d'entrée continue fixée en basse tension à 67V. La fréquence de découpage est alors de 40 kHz. Le second chapitre est consacré à l'étude du transformateur haute fréquence intégré dans le convertisseur. Un modèle de transformateur pour les simulations à l'aide du logiciel SABER a été déterminé. Deux technologies de transformateurs sont alors utilisées pour cette étude : une première classique avec un transformateur bobiné, une seconde qui utilise la technologie planar. L'auteur présente ensuite une validation de ces différents modèles par des résultats de simulation et des résultats expérimentaux. Dans le troisième chapitre, la stratégie de commande de ce convertisseur est abordée avec le pilotage des 16 interrupteurs et les différentes contraintes sur les signaux de commandes pour un bon fonctionnement en commutation douce. La quatrième partie présente les différents modèles développés pour la simulation de ce convertisseur avec le logiciel SABER. Des modèles linéaires de commutations des semi-conducteurs MOSFET et IGBT ont été utilisés. Une étude ainsi que la présentation d'un modèle de moteur synchrone brushless à fem trapézoïdale sont proposées. Le modèles est alors développé an langage de programmation MAST. Finalement les différents blocs de commande sont décrits. Dans le cinquième chapitre, l'auteur présente les essais effectués sur la maquette expérimentale pour des puissances de l'ordre de 9 kW sur charge passive (RL) et sur charge active (moteur). Différents essais avec notamment des mesures du rendement pour différentes configurations et une estimation des pertes permettent de valider cette structure. L'auteur termine en montrant l'intérêt de cette structure dans le cas de l'alimentation de plusieurs machines à partir de la répartition des énergies par l'étage alternatif haute fréquence.
