Advanced Wireless Networks

Advanced Wireless Networks PDF Author: Savo G. Glisic
Publisher: John Wiley & Sons
ISBN: 1119096855
Category : Technology & Engineering
Languages : en
Pages : 848

Book Description
The third edition of this popular reference covers enabling technologies for building up 5G wireless networks. Due to extensive research and complexity of the incoming solutions for the next generation of wireless networks it is anticipated that the industry will select a subset of these results and leave some advanced technologies to be implemented later,. This new edition presents a carefully chosen combination of the candidate network architectures and the required tools for their analysis. Due to the complexity of the technology, the discussion on 5G will be extensive and it will be difficult to reach consensus on the new global standard. The discussion will have to include the vendors, operators, regulators as well as the research and academic community in the field. Having a comprehensive book will help many participants to join actively the discussion and make meaningful contribution to shaping the new standard.

Sensor Network Protocols

Sensor Network Protocols PDF Author: Imad Mahgoub
Publisher: CRC Press
ISBN: 1420006347
Category : Technology & Engineering
Languages : en
Pages : 247

Book Description
Sensor networks continue to grow in importance for modern communication networks. Communication protocols are at the core of these networks, determining their ability to function, their capabilities, and the environments in which they are able to operate. In chapters carefully selected from the popular Handbook of Sensor Networks, Sensor Network Protocols supplies a sharply focused reference on protocols, security, data processing, and energy management in communication sensor networks that is ideal for specialists in the field. Providing a succinct guide to the protocols currently used in advanced sensor networks, this book focuses on four main areas: routing protocols; data gathering and processing; security and reliability; and energy management. The book opens with a survey of the challenges and opportunities facing the field. Then, expert contributors authoritatively discuss routing technologies, next-generation enabling technologies, comparative study of energy-efficient protocols for wireless sensor networks, techniques to reduce computation and communication energy consumption, energy-aware routing, localized algorithms for sensor networks, and much more. Sensor Network Protocols details the techniques and technologies that are at the heart of modern sensor networks. It is an ideal reference for anyone interested in designing, planning, or building emerging sensor and communications networks.

Collaborative Computing: Networking, Applications and Worksharing

Collaborative Computing: Networking, Applications and Worksharing PDF Author: Elisa Bertino

ISBN: 3642033547
Category : Computers
Languages : en
Pages : 846

Book Description
CollaborateCom is an annual international forum for dissemination of original ideas and research results in collaborative computing networks, systems, and applications. A major goal and feature of CollaborateCom is to bring researchers from networking, systems, CSCW, collaborative learning, and collaborative education areas - gether. CollaborateCom 2008 held in Orlando, Florida, was the fourth conference of the series and it reflects the accelerated growth of collaborative computing, both as research and application areas. Concretely, recent advances in many computing fields have contributed to the growing interconnection of our world, including multi-core architectures, 3G/4G wi- less networks, Web 2. 0 technologies, computing clouds, and software as a service, just to mention a few. The potential for collaboration among various components has - ceeded the current capabilities of traditional approaches to system integration and interoperability. As the world heads towards unlimited connectivity and global c- puting, collaboration becomes one of the fundamental challenges for areas as diverse as eCommerce, eGovernment, eScience, and the storage, management, and access of information through all the space and time dimensions. We view collaborative c- puting as the glue that brings the components together and also the lubricant that makes them work together. The conference and its community of researchers dem- strate the concrete progress we are making towards this vision. The conference would not have been successful without help from so many people.

Ad Hoc Wireless Networking

Ad Hoc Wireless Networking PDF Author: Xiuzhen Cheng
Publisher: Springer Science & Business Media
ISBN: 1461302234
Category : Computers
Languages : en
Pages : 622

Book Description
Wireless networking enables two or more computers to communicate using standard network protocols without network cables. Since their emergence in the 1970s, wireless networks have become increasingly pop ular in the computing industry. In the past decade, wireless networks have enabled true mobility. There are currently two versions of mobile wireless networks. An infrastructure network contains a wired backbone with the last hop being wireless. The cellular phone system is an exam ple of an infrastructure network. A multihop ad hoc wireless network has no infrastructure and is thus entirely wireless. A wireless sensor network is an example of a multihop ad hoc wireless network. Ad hoc wireless networking is a technique to support robust and ef ficient operation in mobile wireless networks by incorporating routing functionality into mobile hosts. This technique will be used to realize the dream of "anywhere and anytime computing", which is termed mo bile computing. Mobile computing is a new paradigm of computing in which users carrying portable devices have access to shared infrastruc ture in any location at any time. Mobile computing is a very challenging topic for scientists in computer science and electrical engineering. The representative system for ad hoc wireless networking is called MANET, an acronym for "Mobile Ad hoc NETworks". MANET is an autonomous system consisting of mobile hosts connected by wireless links which can be quickly deployed.
