Book Description
Jihadist forces in the Middle East tangle with covert figures in the American government. ISIS and its collaborators in Saudi Arabia plan to attack the U.S. Capitol during the State of the Union speech and destroy the Capitol and everyone inside with a combination of suicide bombers and a fleet of small suicide planes. They have embedded assassins in some U.S. cities in advance of the attack. ISIS communicates through a system of quantum cryptography that the U.S. can't decipher. Bernie Weber, a brilliant doctoral student, is put to work to break their code. The CIA assigns agent Audrey Knapp to protect him. The assassins are picked off one by one as Knapp and stubborn Milwaukee fight back. When the President and the First Lady start their limousine ride to the Capitol for the Speech, a team of Navy Seals, Navy planes, and Audrey Knapp with a knife in the Visitor Gallery try to stop the final attack. This edgy and sometimes darkly comic clash of cultures is riddled with violence, politics and mathematical science as it twists and turns like a relentless chess match, with the fate of Democracy in the balance.

America's Secret Jihad
Author: Stuart Wexler
Publisher: Catapult
ISBN: 1619027410
Category : Religion
Languages : en
Pages : 433
Book Description
The conventional narrative concerning religious terrorism inside the United States says that the first salvo occurred in 1993, with the first attack on the World Trade Center in New York City. This narrative has motivated more than a decade of wars, and re–prioritized America's domestic security and law enforcement agenda. But the conventional narrative is wrong. A different group of jihadists exists within US borders. This group has a long but hidden history, is outside the purview of public officials and has an agenda as apocalyptic as anything Al Qaeda has to offer. Radical sects of Christianity have inspired some of the most grotesque acts of violence in American history: the 1963 Birmingham Church bombing that killed four young girls; the "Mississippi Burning" murders of three civil rights workers in 1964; the assassination of Martin Luther King, Jr. in 1968, the Atlanta Child Murders in the late 1970s; and the Oklahoma City Bombing in 1995.America's Secret Jihad uses these crimes to tell a story that has not been told before. Expanding upon the author's ground–breaking work on the Martin Luther King, Jr. murder, and through the use of extensive documentation, never–before–released interviews, and a re–interpretation of major events, America's Secret Jihad paints a picture of Christian extremism and domestic terrorism as it has never before been portrayed.

The Terrorist Identity
Author: Michael P. Arena
Publisher: NYU Press
ISBN: 0814707599
Category : Social Science
Languages : en
Pages : 312
Book Description
Who would strap a bomb to his chest, walk into a crowded subway station and blow himself up? Only by examining how a terrorist understands his own identity and actions can this question be answered. The authors of The Terrorist Identity explore how the notion of self-concept combined with membership in terrorist and extremist groups, can shape and sustain the identity of a terrorist as well as their subsequent justification for violence and the legitimacy of their actions. The book provides an understanding of identity that draws on concepts from psychology, criminology, and sociology. Notably, the book examines several case studies of various terrorist groups, including: the Provisional Irish Republican Army, Hamas, the Shining Path, the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam, and racist Skinheads. By making the construct of identity central to this analysis The Terrorist Identity explains how violent and extremist collective behavior emerges culturally, how it informs the identity of group members socially, and how participants assume their place in these groups completely even at the expense of life-threatening harm to others or to themselves.

The Worldwide Jihad: The Truth About Islamic Terrorism
Author: Robert Spencer
Publisher: Hyperink Inc
ISBN: 1614646023
Category : Political Science
Languages : en
Pages : 171
Book Description
In this collection of Robert Spencer’s writings, he discusses the real dangers of Islamic jihad and the spread of sharia laws across the world. Book Excerpt “You keep abusing Islam’s almighty Prophet with disgusting and disgraceful cartoons using excuses of freedom of speech. Be Allah’s curse upon you!” That was the message that hackers left on the website of France’s satirical weekly, Charlie Hebdo, after it announced plans to feature the Islamic prophet Muhammad as “editor-in-chief” of an upcoming issue. When the issue appeared last week, the publication’s offices were firebombed and destroyed. Charlie Hebdo’s editor, Stephane “Charb” Charbonnier, was not cowed. “We no longer have a newspaper,” he said. “All our equipment has been destroyed or has melted. We cannot, today, put together a paper. But we will do everything possible to do one next week. Whatever happens, we’ll do it. There is no question of giving in.” Already there are calls for free people to surrender. Calls for self-censorship and greater “sensitivity” toward Muslims have already begun. Bruce Crumley wrote in Time magazine in the wake of the bombing that “it’s obvious free societies cannot simply give in to hysterical demands made by members of any beyond-the-pale group,” and that “intimidation and violence must be condemned and combated for whatever reason they’re committed,” but that “it’s just as evident members of those same free societies have to exercise a minimum of intelligence, calculation, civility and decency in practicing their rights and liberties—and that isn’t happening when a newspaper decides to mock an entire faith on the logic that it can claim to make a politically noble statement by gratuitously pissing people off.” Certainly a decent person doesn’t go around gratuitously angering people. But when it comes to censorship or even legislation, who is to decide what angers people gratuitously? The people in power, of course. Time is essentially calling for restrictions on the freedom of speech and the creation of a special, privileged class that is beyond criticism. That is the death of free society and the road to tyranny, for the class that is beyond criticism will have a free hand to do whatever it wants, and what will anyone be able to say?
