Pages : 357

Book Description
The series Advances in Polymer Science presents critical reviews of the present and future trends in polymer and biopolymer science. It covers all areas of research in polymer and biopolymer science including chemistry, physical chemistry, physics, material science. The thematic volumes are addressed to scientists, whether at universities or in industry, who wish to keep abreast of the important advances in the covered topics.Advances in Polymer Science enjoys a longstanding tradition and good reputation in its community. Each volume is dedicated to a current topic, and each review critically surveys one aspect of that topic, to place it within the context of the volume. The volumes typically summarize the significant developments of the last 5 to 10 years and discuss them critically, presenting selected examples, explaining and illustrating the important principles, and bringing together many important references of primary literature. On that basis, future research directions in the area can be discussed. Advances in Polymer Science volumes thus are important references for every polymer scientist, as well as for other scientists interested in polymer science - as an introduction to a neighboring field, or as a compilation of detailed information for the specialist.Review articles for the individual volumes are invited by the volume editors. Single contributions can be specially commissioned.Readership: Polymer scientists, or scientists in related fields interested in polymer and biopolymer science, at universities or in industry, graduate students

Microwave-Enhanced Polymer Chemistry and Technology

Microwave-Enhanced Polymer Chemistry and Technology PDF Author: Dariusz Bogdal
Publisher: John Wiley & Sons
ISBN: 0470390247
Category : Technology & Engineering
Languages : en
Pages : 280

Book Description
While polymer technology forms one of the largest areas of application of microwave technology, and the methods and procedures used therein are among the most developed, there is still a relative lack of published information on the subject. Microwave-Enhanced Polymer Chemistry and Technology describes novel approaches to polymer processing using microwave technologies. Coverage includes background and scientific data, analysis of processes and product properties in comparison with existing technology, applications that are being used in various approaches, and the status of current research. Features of microwave irradiation, i.e., solvent-free reactions, low waste, energy efficiency, high yield, short reaction time, and possible use of alternative solvents, can play an important role in the development of green chemistry methods.

Microwave Assisted Synthesis of Biodegradable Polymers, Blends and Composites

Microwave Assisted Synthesis of Biodegradable Polymers, Blends and Composites PDF Author: Anurag Pandey
Publisher: ProQuest
ISBN: 9780542863509
Category :
Languages : en

Book Description
The present study focuses on using this novel heating technology to carryout highly energy intensive polymerization process. L-lactic acid polymerization was carried out under microwave heating. High molecular weight poly (l-lactic acid) was synthesized with or without using Sn-octoate catalyst. Polymerization time was reduced to a few hours under microwave heating compared to 24 to 48 hours required by conventional polymerization process. Increase in the reaction rates were attributed to both thermal and non thermal heating effects of microwave. Copolymeric blend of immiscible polymers like PLLA and PGA were also prepared using microwave heating, resulting in blends which exhibited uniformity, block copolymerization and good compatibility. Insitu synthesis of hydroxyapatite during lactic acid polymerization under microwave heating resulted in high molecular weight PLLA with nano to micron scale hydroxyapatite particles embedded in the matrix. Degradation of low molecular weight microwave synthesized PLLA showed bulk degradation and have been shown as potentials for drug delivery applications.

Heterogeneous Catalytic Materials

Heterogeneous Catalytic Materials PDF Author: Guido Busca
Publisher: Newnes
ISBN: 044459521X
Category : Technology & Engineering
Languages : en
Pages : 479

Book Description
Heterogeneous Catalytic Materials discusses experimental methods and the latest developments in three areas of research: heterogeneous catalysis; surface chemistry; and the chemistry of catalysts. Catalytic materials are those solids that allow the chemical reaction to occur efficiently and cost-effectively. This book provides you with all necessary information to synthesize, characterize, and relate the properties of a catalyst to its behavior, enabling you to select the appropriate catalyst for the process and reactor system. Oxides (used both as catalysts and as supports for catalysts), mixed and complex oxides and salts, halides, sulfides, carbides, and unsupported and supported metals are all considered. The book encompasses applications in industrial chemistry, refinery, petrochemistry, biomass conversion, energy production, and environmental protection technologies. - Provides a systematic and clear approach of the synthesis, solid state chemistry and surface chemistry of all solid state catalysts - Covers widely used instrumental techniques for catalyst characterization, such as x-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy, and more - Includes characterization methods and lists all catalytic behavior of the solid state catalysts - Discusses new developments in nanocatalysts and their advantages over conventional catalysts

The Stille Reaction

The Stille Reaction PDF Author: Vittorio Farina

Category : Science
Languages : en
Pages : 676

Book Description
