Cooperative and Graph Signal Processing

Cooperative and Graph Signal Processing PDF Author: Petar Djuric
Publisher: Academic Press
ISBN: 0128136782
Category : Computers
Languages : en
Pages : 868

Book Description
Cooperative and Graph Signal Processing: Principles and Applications presents the fundamentals of signal processing over networks and the latest advances in graph signal processing. A range of key concepts are clearly explained, including learning, adaptation, optimization, control, inference and machine learning. Building on the principles of these areas, the book then shows how they are relevant to understanding distributed communication, networking and sensing and social networks. Finally, the book shows how the principles are applied to a range of applications, such as Big data, Media and video, Smart grids, Internet of Things, Wireless health and Neuroscience. With this book readers will learn the basics of adaptation and learning in networks, the essentials of detection, estimation and filtering, Bayesian inference in networks, optimization and control, machine learning, signal processing on graphs, signal processing for distributed communication, social networks from the perspective of flow of information, and how to apply signal processing methods in distributed settings. - Presents the first book on cooperative signal processing and graph signal processing - Provides a range of applications and application areas that are thoroughly covered - Includes an editor in chief and associate editor from the IEEE Transactions on Signal Processing and Information Processing over Networks who have recruited top contributors for the book

Gender Equality and the Media

Gender Equality and the Media PDF Author: Karen Ross
Publisher: Routledge
ISBN: 131748469X
Category : Social Science
Languages : en
Pages : 284

Book Description
This edited collection draws on and expands the findings from a pan-European research project undertaken during 2012-13 which was funded by the European Institute for Gender Equality and aimed to explore three key issues in relation to gender and media: women’s inclusion in decision-making positions within media industries; how women are represented in the media; and what policies and mechanisms are in place to support women’s career development and promote gender equality. The research looked at 99 major media organisations across the EU including public and private sector broadcasters (TV and radio) as well as a number of major newspaper groups. Researchers also monitored TV programmes (factual only but including entertainment genres) across one week and coded 1200 hours of TV. In addition to elaborating the results from 16 of the participating nations, the collection includes a set of context-setting essays and a summarizing conclusion as well as a reflection on the purpose and utility of gender indicators. It is the first major work to look across the European media landscape and explore both employment and representation, providing a unique glimpse into the contemporary media scene in relation to gender equality, including examples of good and less good practice.

Regularization and Bayesian Methods for Inverse Problems in Signal and Image Processing

Regularization and Bayesian Methods for Inverse Problems in Signal and Image Processing PDF Author: Jean-Francois Giovannelli
Publisher: John Wiley & Sons
ISBN: 1118826981
Category : Technology & Engineering
Languages : en
Pages : 322

Book Description
The focus of this book is on "ill-posed inverse problems". These problems cannot be solved only on the basis of observed data. The building of solutions involves the recognition of other pieces of a priori information. These solutions are then specific to the pieces of information taken into account. Clarifying and taking these pieces of information into account is necessary for grasping the domain of validity and the field of application for the solutions built. For too long, the interest in these problems has remained very limited in the signal-image community. However, the community has since recognized that these matters are more interesting and they have become the subject of much greater enthusiasm. From the application field’s point of view, a significant part of the book is devoted to conventional subjects in the field of inversion: biological and medical imaging, astronomy, non-destructive evaluation, processing of video sequences, target tracking, sensor networks and digital communications. The variety of chapters is also clear, when we examine the acquisition modalities at stake: conventional modalities, such as tomography and NMR, visible or infrared optical imaging, or more recent modalities such as atomic force imaging and polarized light imaging.

Time-Frequency/Time-Scale Analysis

Time-Frequency/Time-Scale Analysis PDF Author: Patrick Flandrin
Publisher: Academic Press
ISBN: 0080543030
Category : Mathematics
Languages : en
Pages : 401

Book Description
This highly acclaimed work has so far been available only in French. It is a detailed survey of a variety of techniques for time-frequency/time-scale analysis (the essence of "Wavelet Analysis"). This book has broad and comprehensive coverage of a topic of keen interest to a variety of engineers, especially those concerned with signal and image processing. Flandrin provides a discussion of numerous issues and problems that arise from a mixed description in time and frequency, as well as problems in interpretation inherent in signal theory. - Detailed coverage of both linear and quadratic solutions - Various techniques for both random and deterministic signals

Modelling the Wireless Propagation Channel

Modelling the Wireless Propagation Channel PDF Author: Fernando P¿rez Font¿n
Publisher: John Wiley & Sons
ISBN: 0470751738
Category : Technology & Engineering
Languages : en
Pages : 268

Book Description
A practical tool for propagation channel modeling with MATLAB® simulations. Many books on wireless propagation channel provide a highly theoretical coverage, which for some interested readers, may be difficult to follow. This book takes a very practical approach by introducing the theory in each chapter first, and then carrying out simulations showing how exactly put the theory into practice. The resulting plots are analyzed and commented for clarity, and conclusions are drawn and explained from the obtained results. Key features include: A unique approach to propagation channel modeling with accompanying MATLAB® simulations to demonstrate the theory in practice Contains step by step commentary and analysis of the obtained simulation results in order to provide a comprehensive and structured learning tool Covers a wide range of topics including shadowing effects, coverage and interference, Multipath Narrowband channel, Multipath Wideband channel, propagation in micro and pico-cells, the land mobile satellite (LMS) channel, the directional Multipath channel and MIMO and propagation effects in fixed radio links (terrestrial and satellite) The book comes with an accompanying website that contains the MATLAB® simulations and allows readers to try them out themselves Well suited for lab-use, as reference and as a self-learning tool both for advanced students and professionals Modeling the Wireless Propagation Channel: A simulation approach with MATLAB® will be best suited for postgraduate (Masters and PhD) students and practicing engineers in telecommunications and electrical engineering fields, who are seeking to familiarise themselves with the topic without too many formulas. The book will also be of interest to network engineers, system engineers and researchers
