Book Description
The work of Dr. William Symington, of Glasgow, Scotland, on "The Mediatorial Dominion of Jesus Christ," holds a place in literature which is altogether unique. While books on the priestly work of the Redeemer, and especially on the Atonement, are numerous, no formal and exhaustive discussion of the kingly office of the Messiah-its necessity, its reality, its extent, and its application to various classes of moral agents-is elsewhere, I believe, to be found. Even elaborate systems of theology are found singularly defective here. Since, however, the royal authority of Christ has been clearly revealed, and is unquestionably exercised in the government of the world, it is manifest that an examination of this subject is essential to any complete view of the work of Redemption. It is cause for satisfaction that the only treatise, as yet, upon this subject, is a work of signal ability, lucid in arrangement, reverent in spirit, and, with hardly an exception, sound and judicious in its conclusions.

Book Description
Excerpt from Messiah the Prince: Or, the Mediatorial Dominion of Jesus Christ Dr. Symington went over the same ground which is gone over here in his lectures as Professor of Theology. These lectures have been carefully used in preparing this edition, so that it has the advantage of a revision by the author himself twenty years after the first pub lication. It must be understood that any changes which may be observed have been made in this way. In one or two places these are considerable, but they affect the order of thought rather than the thought itself. The Coming Prince

The Coming Prince PDF Author: Robert Anderson
Publisher: Cosimo, Inc.
ISBN: 1602062307
Category : Religion

Book Description
He was one of the most popular lay preachers and Christian apologists of his day: Sir Robert Anderson devoutly believed that the Bible was the inerrant word of God, and in this popular 1881 book-a companion to his Daniel in the Critics' Den-he mounts a defense of the prophetic Old Testament Book of Daniel, an early example of apocalyptic philosophy in Christianity. Students of the Bible will appreciate this historically valuable attempt to set straight the many controversies surrounding Daniel regarding its authorship and even the date of its writing. And anyone interested in the apocalyptic fervor of modern-day fundamentalist Christianity will find this an instructive and enlightening read. While at Scotland Yard, Irish police official and religious scholar SIR ROBERT ANDERSON (1841-1918) helped investigate the Jack the Ripper murders, but he is best remembered for his works of Bible study, including Forgotten Truths and The Silence of God.
