No One Mentions the Pigs

No One Mentions the Pigs PDF Author: Kate Kinnersley
Publisher: Troubador Publishing Ltd
ISBN: 1784623202
Category : Poetry
Languages : en
Pages : 64

Book Description
If you are looking for hearts and flowers, then this collection is not for you. If you are looking for poetry that gives you a warm romantic glow, then again this collection is not for you. If on the other hand you are looking for works that are politically astute, and that explore the darker side of the human psyche, then this is most definitely the one for you. This is not a collection for the faint hearted. The poems range from the politically motivated No One Mentions the Pigs, the poem from which the collection takes its title, to the unromantic view of love inSappho's Legacy and Rose through to the dark look at the incestuous in Country Ways. All of the poems carry a message, which is not always what one would expect from such a work. The poems are never obscure, and certainly never comfortable, but what they are is thought provoking, witty, emotionally involving and above all entertaining. A truly unique, colourful and powerful first collection from an exciting new poet full of insight, wit and wisdom. A rollercoaster read, so fasten your seatbelts and enjoy.

The Southern Version of Cursor Mundi Vol I: Lines 1-9228

The Southern Version of Cursor Mundi Vol I: Lines 1-9228 PDF Author: Sarah M. Horrall
Publisher: University of Ottawa Press
ISBN: 0776648055
Category : Literary Criticism
Languages : en
Pages : 431

Book Description
The medieval poem Cursor Mundi is a biblical verse account of the history of the world, offering a chronological overview of salvation history from Creation to Doomsday. Originating in northern England around the year 1300, the poem was frequently copied in the north before appearing in a southern version in substantially altered form. Although it is a storehouse of popular medieval biblical lore and a fascinating study in the eclectic use of more than a dozen sources, the poem has until now attracted little scholarly attention. This five-part collaborative edition presents the Arundel version of the poem with variants from three others. In addition, it provides a discussion of sources and analogues, detailed explanatory notes, and a bibliography. Published in English.

Wilhelm Meister's

Wilhelm Meister's PDF Author: Johann von Goethe
Publisher: Createspace Independent Publishing Platform
ISBN:
Category : Fiction
Languages : en
Pages : 386

Book Description
Wilhelm Meister's: Apprenticeship and Travels by Johann Wolfgang von Goethe. Wilhelm Meister's Apprenticeship (German: Wilhelm Meisters Lehrjahre) is the second novel by Johann Wolfgang von Goethe, published in 1795-96. The eponymous hero undergoes a journey of self-realization. The story centers upon Wilhelm's attempt to escape what he views as the empty life of a bourgeois businessman. After a failed romance with the theater, Wilhelm commits himself to the mysterious Tower Society. These two translations, "Meister's Apprenticeship" and "Meister's Travels," have long been out of print, but never altogether out of demand; nay, it would seem, the originally somewhat moderate demand has gone on increasing, and continues to increase. They are, therefore, here republished; and the one being in some sort a sequel to the other, though in rather unexpected sort, they are now printed together. The English version of "Meister's Travels" has been extracted, or extricated, from a compilation of very various quality named "German Romance," and placed by the side of the "Apprenticeship," its forerunner, which, in the translated as in the original state, appeared hitherto as a separate work.
