Book Description
Growing up is a miraculous time. The journey from the freedom of childhood to the workaday life of becoming an adult is filled with both poignancy and wonder. Fond memories of pedaling bikes through honeysuckle-scented streets with a pack of neighborhood friends and playing "kick the can" and stickball on warm summer evenings alight with fireflies are accompanied by the inevitable loss of people and places dear to the heart-and a seminal moment when we know we're leaving childhood behind. These are the stories of a turning point-when the world shifted, and nothing would ever be the same. In this first collection of the MEMORIES FROM MAPLE STREET, U.S.A., series, Sundown Press brings you real-life stories, from the touching to the humorous, the inspirational to the adventurous, and a wonderful group of childhood memories you'll never forget.

Book Description
What is Christmas all about? Wonderful memories! This collection of stories celebrates the very best and most poignant memories of the past, and is sure to have you laughing and crying right along with the authors who shared their stories in MEMORIES FROM MAPLE STREET, U.S.A.-THE BEST CHRISTMAS EVER! Who can forget those special Santa gifts that brought such joy to us in our childhood? Those toys we fervently hoped ol' Santa would bring for us if we were good? Livia J. Washburn, Cheryl Pierson, and Tanya Hanson write about some of those hopes and dreams for that certain gift with a special, personal twist to each story. But Christmas memories also sometimes hold a special place in our hearts because of a person that was somehow important in our lives. Authors Sharon Cunningham, Beverly Wells, Carol Huff and Gigi Meyer weave that aspect of Christmas into their beautiful holiday tales, with remembrances of some very special people in their lives-and why Christmas means so much because of them. Kathleen Rice Adams pens a sentimental story of a wonderful gift to her mother from her father. And Charlie Steel's story of hunting for the perfect Christmas tree with his father is sure to make you smile. Jim Landwehr, Tina Holt, and Randy Lee Eickhoff all give us a backward glance at the love and traditions from the past that make Christmas what it is, while Christine Waldman tells a poignant tale of Santa looking for his lost reindeer in the snow. This is one wonderful collection of heartfelt stories that you will not want to pass up-and it also makes a great gift for all ages-if you still believe in Santa!

Book Description
Have you ever had a pet that left indelible pawprints-or hoofprints-on your heart? Pets we've rescued-that rescued us, as well-and animals that maybe weren't so much "pets" as "acquaintances" who've taught us a thing or two... The third edition of our successful series, Memories From Maple Street, U.S.A.-Pawprints On My Heart, is chock full of stories about special pets we've had. These tales evoke loving memories of days gone by when these animals played a huge part in our lives-either as pets we had as children, or as adults. Who knew a miniature donkey could bring such joy, or a runaway monkey such laughter? A trip to the vet leads to a car wreck and chaos when a cat escapes his carrier, and a determined mom decides to try her hand at hatching duck eggs with a homemade incubator. You'll find these and many other tales in this wonderful collection of true stories that you will want to read and share!Anatole France once said, "Until one has loved an animal, a part of one's soul remains unawakened." This collection of true animal stories will serve to prove him right!

Theoretical Perspectives on Autobiographical Memory

Theoretical Perspectives on Autobiographical Memory PDF Author: M.A. Conway
Publisher: Springer Science & Business Media
ISBN: 9401579679
Category : Psychology
Languages : en
Pages : 496

Book Description
The meeting Theoretical Perspectives on Autobiographical Memory was held at the Grange Hotel, Grange-over-Sands, in the Lake District region of North Western England, July 1991. The workshop was financed by a generous grant from the NATO Scientific Affairs Division under the Advanced Research Workshop programme and without this funding the meeting would not have been possible: the organisers and delegates gratefully acknowledge the support of the NATO Advanced Research Workshops programme. Thirty-five scientists from five different NATO countries attended the workshop and twenty-seven delegates presented papers. The two aims of the workshop were to bring together in one forum a number of comparatively separate approaches to autobiographical memory and to promote theory in the area generally . These aims were fulfilled in the presentations and discussions, particularly the final discussion session, in which delegates focussed on the central issues of the nature, structure, and functions of autobiographical memory and how these emerge in different research areas. The present volume contains the papers arising from the workshop. We thank Mrs. Sheila Whalley for secretarial help and Fiona Hirst and Stephen Anderson für practical assistance in coordinating registration for the workshop.

Book Description
Jack and Lily Beaumont own a genuine Victorian tavern, situated on one of Belfast's few remaining narrow cobbled streets. They are content with their regular customers, but one day developer Vincent Halloran arrives with big plans for Maple Street. As Christmas approaches, Lily decides to hire four pretty barmaids and two singers in a final bid to save the Tavern - enter pint-sized man-eater Bridget, lazy art student Daisy, neurotic Trudy and painfully shy Marie, not to mention the handsome Devaney brothers with their tight leather trousers and acoustic guitars. But is it too little, too late?
