Mechanism of Reentrainment of Small Particles from Flat Surfaces in Turbulant Flow

Mechanism of Reentrainment of Small Particles from Flat Surfaces in Turbulant Flow PDF Author: J. B. Punjrath

Book Description
The objective of this study were to investigate mechanisms of re-entrainment from flat surfaces at zero angle of incidence. Re-entrainment was observed to increase significantly as the intensity of turbulance increased. The increased reentrainment due to higher intensities of turbulance was due to a shift of the point of transition from laminar to turbulant flow in the boundary layer over flat plate. The particles with 15 to22.5 micrones required the minimum velocities and force per unit area for re.

Particle Adhesion and Removal

Particle Adhesion and Removal PDF Author: K. L. Mittal
Publisher: John Wiley & Sons
ISBN: 1118831543
Category : Technology & Engineering
Languages : en
Pages : 482

Book Description
The book provides a comprehensive and easily accessible reference source covering all important aspects of particle adhesion and removal. The core objective is to cover both fundamental and applied aspects of particle adhesion and removal with emphasis on recent developments. Among the topics to be covered include: 1. Fundamentals of surface forces in particle adhesion and removal. 2. Mechanisms of particle adhesion and removal. 3. Experimental methods (e.g. AFM, SFA,SFM,IFM, etc.) to understand particle-particle and particle-substrate interactions. 4. Mechanics of adhesion of micro- and nanoscale particles. 5. Various factors affecting particle adhesion to a variety of substrates. 6. Surface modification techniques to modulate particle adhesion. 7. Various cleaning methods (both wet & dry) for particle removal. 8. Relevance of particle adhesion in a host of technologies ranging from simple to ultra-sophisticated.

Particle Adhesion

Particle Adhesion PDF Author: David J. Quesnel

Category : Science

Pages : 546

Book Description
Whenever a curved surface interacts with another surface, the principles of adhesion are at work. From the cells in your body to the dust on your glasses, intermolecular forces cause materials to attract one another. Elastic deformations resulting from these adhesive interactions store strain that can be liberated during particle detachment. Time dependent changes in adhesion can result from plastic deformation that both increases the real effective contact area and reduces the stored energy available to assist in particle removal. Processes such as these, based on the fundamentals tenets of particle adhesion, are now finding applications across many disciplines leading to a rich and rapid development of knowledge. This book documents the use of particle adhesion concepts in a variety of disciplines. Fields as varied as the cleaning of semiconductors, to the controlling of cancer metastasis, to the abatement of environmental pollution all benefit from applications of particle adhesion concepts.

Particles in Wall-Bounded Turbulent Flows: Deposition, Re-Suspension and Agglomeration

Particles in Wall-Bounded Turbulent Flows: Deposition, Re-Suspension and Agglomeration PDF Author: Jean-Pierre Minier
Publisher: Springer
ISBN: 3319415670
Category : Technology & Engineering
Languages : en
Pages : 268

Book Description
The book presents an up-to-date review of turbulent two-phase flows with the dispersed phase, with an emphasis on the dynamics in the near-wall region. New insights to the flow physics are provided by direct numerical simuation and by fine experimental techniques. Also included are models of particle dynamics in wall-bounded turbulent flows, and a description of particle surface interactions including muti-layer deposition and re-suspension.

Pages : 318

Book Description
The only work available to treat the theory of turbulent flow with suspended particles, this book also includes a section on simulation methods, comparing the model results obtained with the PDF method to those obtained with other techniques, such as DNS, LES and RANS. Written by experienced scientists with background in oil and gas processing, this book is applicable to a wide range of industries -- from the petrol industry and industrial chemistry to food and water processing.

Towards Estimating Entrainment Fraction for Dust Layers

Towards Estimating Entrainment Fraction for Dust Layers PDF Author: Erdem A. Ural
Publisher: Springer Science & Business Media
ISBN: 1461433711
Category : Business & Economics
Languages : en
Pages : 87

Book Description
Examines the factors that can affect the assessment of a dust hazard, and outlines a strawman method designed to help practitioners estimate the fraction of the dust accumulations that can become airborne. This title intends to provide aid in the removal of aerodynamic disturbances of dust particles.
