Pages : 335

Book Description
The COVID-19 pandemic emerged as a disruptive force that exposed numerous challenges. From the sudden shift to virtual learning accompanied by technology disparities to issues of diversity, equity, and inclusion, the crisis impacted students, families, educators, and leaders alike. The social and emotional well-being of learners took center stage, and the need for academic rigor became even more pressing as learning gaps widened. Teachers faced the challenge of maintaining motivation, while complications in students' home lives became increasingly apparent. The involvement, or lack thereof, of families and communities in the education process added another layer of complexity. It is within this complex educational landscape that our book presents itself as a beacon of hope and transformation. Challenges and Transitions in Education in Times of Crisis is the solution to the unprecedented challenges that COVID-19 brought to the education sector. It goes beyond just analyzing the problems and delves deep into innovative and actionable solutions that have emerged from this crisis. The book provides a comprehensive overview of the educational environment, from pre-pandemic to post-pandemic, through a lens of opportunity. It is a guide for all stakeholders in education, presenting evidence-based strategies and best practices to address the complex issues facing our schools.

Book Description
The purpose of this research was to examine student achievement in math while using computer assisted instruction in the classroom setting. This quantitative analysis of achievement and survey data included TN Ready math scores of 2019, and a student survey of one-to-one technology implementation of 8th grade Middle School students. The students’ performance on the TN Ready scores being compared to the state of TN scores of students did not show a difference and the use of computer assisted instruction cannot be stated to have an effect on student achievement. The student survey of one-to-one technology did show with the use of computer assisted instruction motivated students to learn.

The Impact of Reform Instruction on Student Mathematics Achievement

The Impact of Reform Instruction on Student Mathematics Achievement PDF Author: Thomas A. Romberg
Publisher: Routledge
ISBN: 1135855692
Category : Education
Languages : en
Pages : 216

Book Description
Summarizing data derived from a four-year combined longitudinal/ cross-sectional comparative study of the implementation of one standards-based middle school curriculum program, Mathematics in Context, this book demonstrates the challenges of conducting comparative longitudinal research in the reality of school life. The study was designed to answer three questions: What is the impact on student performance of the Mathematics in Context instructional approach, which differs from most conventional mathematics texts in both content and expected pedagogy? How is this impact different from that of traditional instruction on student performance? What variables associated with classroom instruction account for variation in student performance? The researchers examined a range of variables that affected data collection. These variations highlight the need to study the effects of the culture in which student learning is situated when analyzing the impact of standards-based curricula on student achievement. This book is directed to educational researchers interested in curriculum implementation, mathematics educators interested in the effects of using reform curriculum materials in classrooms, evaluators and research methodologists interested in structural modeling and scaling of instructional variables, and educational policy makers concerned about reform efforts.

Book Description
This study focused on the effect of computer-aided instruction on mathematics achievement. Two schools within the same district, one which utilized computer instruction and one which did not, were studied and then measured by the PSSA test. The hypothesis was that students who used computer-assisted mathematics instruction would have significantly increased mathematics achievement compared with those who have not used computer-assisted mathematics instruction. In general, the study showed no significant difference in student achievement for the two groups.
