Book Description
We present a measurement of the time-dependent asymmetry in the rate for [anti]B[sup 0][sub d] versus B[sup 0][sub d] decays to J/[psi] K[sup 0][sub S] . In the context of the Standard Model this is interpreted as a measurement of the CP-violation parameter sin(2[beta]). A total of 198 [+-] 17 B[sup 0][sub d]/[anti B][sup 0][sub d] decays were observed in p[anti p] collisions at ps = 1:8 TeV by the CDF detector at the Fermilab Tevatron. The initial b-flavor is determined by a same side avor tagging technique. Our analysis results in sin(2[beta]) = 1:8 [+-] 1:1(stat) [+-] 0:3(syst).

Book Description
This thesis presents a measurement of the time-dependent asymmetry in the rate of[anti B][sub d][sup 0] versus B[sub d][sup 0] decays to J/[psi]K[sub s][sup 0]. In the context of the Standard Model this is interpreted as a measurement of the CP violation parameter sin(2[beta]). A total of 198[+-]17 B[sub d][sup 0]/[anti B][sub d][sup 0] decays were observed in p[anti p] collisions at[radical]s=1.8 TeV by the CDF detector at the Fermilab Tevatron. The initial B flavor (whether B[sup 0] or[anti B][sup 0]) is determined by a same-side flavor tagging technique. The analysis results in sin(2[beta])=1.8[+-]1.1(stat.)[+-]0.3(syst.). This analysis demonstrates the feasibility of studying CP violation in the B[sup 0]-[anti B][sup 0] system at a hadron collider. By applying the methods used in this analysis, future, higher-statistics experiments should be able to tightly constrain the parameters of the Standard Model.

Book Description
In the 110 pb−1 Run I data sample, using three complementary flavor-tagging algorithms CDF has made a new measurement of the CP-violating asymmetry sin(2[beta])=0.79{sup +0.41}{sub -0.44}, This corresponds to the limit sin(2[beta])>-0.08 at 95% confidence level. This result agrees well with predictions from indirect constraints based on fits of elements of the CKM matrix.

Book Description
The CP-violating parameter sin 2[beta] is directly measured using 110 pb[sup[minus]1] of data accumulated with the CDF detector at the Fermilab[anti p]p Tevatron collider operating at[radical]s= 1.8 TeV. The signal consists of 395[+-] 31 B[sub d][sup 0][r[underscore]arrow] J/[psi] K[sub s] events. Three tagging methods are used to identify the type of B meson at production (B[sub d][sup 0] or[anti B][sub d][sup 0]). From the CP asymmetry, sin 2[beta] is measured to be 0.79[sub[minus]0.44][sup+0.41], consistent with Standard Model predictions. Sin 2[beta] is in the interval 0[lt] sin2[beta][lt] 1 at the 93% confidence level.

Book Description
This dissertation describes the first CP asymmetry parameter sin(2[beta]) measurement by the DO collaboration, sing the opposite side jet charge tagging algorithm in determining B-flavor. The time integrated measurement yields sin(2[beta]) = 0.82 ± 1.80, and the time dependent measurement gives sin(2[beta]) = 1.80 ± 1.15.

Book Description
We report an updated direct measurement of the Standard Model CP violation parameter sin(2[beta]) using the CDF Detector at Fermilab. We use the entire Run-I data sample of 110 pb−1 of proton-antiproton collisions at √s = 1.8 TeV. In this analysis, we have combined three tagging methods: a same-side tag, a soft-lepton tag, and a jet-charge tag, and also added events that have less precise lifetime information because they are not fully contained within the acceptance of the SVX. The signal sample consists of ≈ 400 B → J/[psi] K{sub S}° events. A maximum likelihood fitting method is used to measure sin(2[beta]) = 0.79{sub -0.44}{sup +0.41} (stat.+syst.). We calculate a 93% Feldman-Cousins confidence interval of 0
