Advertising: Methods, Research and Practices

Advertising: Methods, Research and Practices PDF Author: Noprita Herari
Publisher: Sayak Pal
ISBN: 8196340257
Category : Antiques & Collectibles
Languages : en
Pages : 494

Book Description
Millions of people are exposed to thousands of brands daily through different means, and we may categorise some as advertisements. William M. O’Barr calls it “conditioning of the consumers.” Advertisements can be analysed from different perspectives. For instance, Philip Nelson, in his study “Advertising as Information,” analyses advertisements based on the capacity of advertisements to direct the information toward the consumers, helping them separate one brand from another. Demetrios Vakratsas and Tim Ambler, in their study “How Advertising Works: What Do We Really Know?” discussed factors like “consumer’s belief and attitudes” and “behavioral effects” leading to purchasing behavior and brand choice. Research and advertising are intertwined, and it helps to explore the horizon of advertising that helps to improve the advertising industry. The book “Advertising: Methods, Research and Practices” offers a collection of concepts and perspectives like brand identity, buying habits, online advertising, digital gaming, political advertising, contemporary Indian advertising, new age advertising, the impact of advertising on food habits and consumption preferences, AI intervention in advertising, unethical advertising practices, chocolate advertising, marketing of toys, Digital marketing and advertising. The chapters also include metaphorical language in advertising, advertising appeals, e-sport marketing, sustainable advertising, celebrity and advertising, subliminal advertising, MSME and advertising, women in advertising, public service advertising, advertisement for positive behavior change, advertisements on menstrual health and hygiene and many more. Collectively, the chapters would help in understanding the different perspectives of advertising as practice as well as the dimensions of research requirements.

Market Strategies and German Literature in the Long Nineteenth Century

Market Strategies and German Literature in the Long Nineteenth Century PDF Author: Vance Byrd
Publisher: Walter de Gruyter GmbH & Co KG
ISBN: 3110660148
Category : Social Science
Languages : en
Pages : 402

Book Description
Building upon recent German Studies research addressing the industrialization of printing, the expansion of publication venues, new publication formats, and readership, Market Strategies maps a networked literary field in which the production, promotion, and reception of literature from the Enlightenment to World War II emerges as a collaborative enterprise driven by the interests of actors and institutions. These essays demonstrate how a network of authors, editors, and publishers devised mutually beneficial and, at times, conflicting strategies for achieving success on the rapidly evolving nineteenth-century German literary market. In particular, the contributors consider how these actors shaped a nineteenth-century literary market, which included the Jewish press, highbrow and lowbrow genres, and modernist publications. They explore the tensions felt as markets expanded and restrictions were imposed, which yielded resilient new publication strategies, fostered criticism, and led to formal innovations. The volume thus serves as major contribution to interdisciplinary research in nineteenth-century German literary, media, and cultural studies.

Prentice-Hall Tax Service for 1919 (Classic Reprint)

Prentice-Hall Tax Service for 1919 (Classic Reprint) PDF Author: Prentice-Hall Inc
Publisher: Forgotten Books
ISBN:
Category : Reference
Languages : en
Pages : 430

Book Description
Excerpt from Prentice-Hall Tax Service for 1919 This allowance is not based upon the difference between the actual war cost of such facilities and what they would have cost at pre-war prices. Obviously the taxpayer is not entitled to recover or extinguish through amortization more than the difference between the war cost of such property and what he can sell the property for after the war, or if he continues to need and use it in his business, what it would have cost him after the war. As the rule is expressed in Article 183 of the Regulations: The total amount to be extinguished by amortization, in general, is the excess of the unextinguished or unrecovered cost of the property over its maximum value (either for sale or for use as part of the plant or equipment of a going business) under stable post war. A Linguistic Analysis of Strategies of Argumentation in English Print Ads

A Linguistic Analysis of Strategies of Argumentation in English Print Ads PDF Author: Julia Trede
Publisher: GRIN Verlag
ISBN: 3656196230
Category : Biography & Autobiography
Languages : en
Pages : 29

Book Description
Seminar paper from the year 2012 in the subject English Language and Literature Studies - Linguistics, grade: 1,3, University of Kassel, language: English, abstract: No matter where we are advertisements are everywhere, but how do people decide which product to buy? Today consumers may choose which toothpaste or shampoo they want to purchase because there is a huge range of brands that offer the same goods, therefore companies have to persuade consumers to buy their product. As a student of linguistics I asked myself how argumentative persuasion in advertising functions and how it contributes to its effectiveness. I found two very interesting approaches by Clemens Ottmers and Nina Janich who determined different argumentation strategies for analysing advertisements. Although there is a lot of literature dealing with language and advertising, there are only few works concerned with strategies of argumentation in advertising. Since 1945, and especially during the economic miracle, there has been a steady increase of research in the field of language and advertising. First works dealing with argumentation and advertising were published in the 1960s. In the course of years linguists concentrated more on specific linguistic aspects of advertising and presented first analysing methods. Furthermore, they focused on rhetoric figures, strategies of advertising, and on the effects of images. Nowadays, linguistic research concentrates on semiotics and image-text-relations, as well as on intentions, persuasion in advertisements, and TV spots. However, the main problem of linguistic research of advertising is the lack of a fundamental work dealing with language of advertising and its versatility with reference to images and advertising media.
