Este libro es el tercero que presento sobre el mismo tema: Manzanares y La Pedriza; he añadido datos inéditos, y tiene el atrevimiento del que dice lo que piensa, con los datos higiénicos de la Historia. No digo que esta sea la única verdad, porque la verdad no es de nadie. Siempre estaré abierto a conocer nuevas verdades. Pero también estaré dispuesto a no callar ante "el eterno simulacro". Posiblemente, no sea todo lo completo que uno espera que sea, pero lo que es indudable es que es al que más tiempo he dedicado; surge después de siete años de trabajo. Es la suma de muchas horas de entrevistas a todas las personas entre setenta y noventa años que viven en Manzanares el Real y que me aportaron sus vivencias históricas, como testigos presenciales. Junto a las entrevistas he unido la investigación en el Archivo Histórico Municipal de Manzanares el Real. He tenido el privilegio de poder descubrir muchos documentos inéditos que he incorporado a este trabajo. Junto a esta documentación he añadido los trabajos de historiadores y arqueólogos que me han ido aportando sus investigaciones y que han sido incorporados a cada uno de los capítulos que aquí se han tratado. El libro comienza con la situación de la población de Manzanares el Real y el origen de su nombre. Una vez conocida su evolución, he dedicado un capítulo a la Historia y Prehistoria de España, en general y de Manzanares el Real, en particular. En la historia actual, no he olvidado los sucesos más recientes. También, he ido analizando elementos particulares de Manzanares el Real, como la propiedad de la tierra, la agricultura, la industria, etc. He intentado mostrar la transformación de un pueblo que evoluciona desde una posición eminentemente rural y agraria, a una dedicación de servicios. (Los que, en el pasado, se situaron en el poder agrario junto a los caciques, serán los que seguirán manteniendo el poder de la industria de servicios, aunque hay algunas excepciones.) En Manzanares el Real, durante "los años del hambre", se va formando un pequeño grupo de agricultores y cabreros, que amparados por el "nuevo régimen político" pasarán a ser los que controlan la tierra y las decisiones políticas. Finalmente, he terminado el libro con la Historia de La Pedriza, a la que he añadido elementos no estudiados hasta ahora, como son los nombres sin historia, que se han ido transmitiendo por los cabreros de la zona. También, he añadido algunos "secretos" de La Pedriza. Me he atrevido a comentar la historia actual de Manzanares, gracias a todos los vecinos del pueblo que me han dado sus opiniones. He recogido la opinión de todos. Sólo busco la verdad, y esta está por encima de unos y de otros. Sólo pido que se lea como un intento de saber. Pido respeto para todos y disculpas si no he sabido trasmitir su historia, nuestra historia.
