Book Description
Excerpt from Manual of the Onondaga Historical Association The Onondaga Historical Association is one of the many literary societies which existed in all cities of the East about thirty years ago, and it has the distinction of being one of the very few of these older organizations that have survived their vicissitudes and have been able to continue the work which was originally planned for them. It was organized in 1862. To James N oxon, a prominent attorney of the time, is due, probably, the credit of its inception. It was in his office that the first meeting was held to discuss the proposed society and there it was decided to undertake the project.
