N ow, on the day that the seed is to be sowed, give it a thorough harrowing, for the purpose of destroying the little weeds that have appeared in the seed-leaf. If many lumps of earth, or small stones are harrowed up, the sur face must be rolled. And while the surface is fresh, let the seed be put in as speedily as possi ble, because flax seed, or any other seed, will germinate much sooner thus, than if put into soil that has not been disturbed for a number of days.
