Así lo prueban la Directiva de retorno (con toda justicia calificada como «Directiva de la vergüenza») y la Directiva de sanción a los empleadores de personas en situación irregular{ y también puede decirse que existe un empeoramiento de ciertas legislaciones estatales, como la italiana, la francesa, etc. Frecuentemente se utiliza un peligroso mito para referirse a estas personas: son calificadas como «ilegales», a pesar de que ninguna persona lo es. El mito esconde importantes dosis de xenofobia y de criminalización de personas que simplemente han atravesado irregularmente una frontera o se hallan con una documentación caducada.El respeto de los Derechos Humanos de las personas en situación irregular no siempre se produce en nuestros democráticos Estados de Derecho{ en ellos surge con demasiada frecuencia el cinismo del doble o triple lenguaje. El respeto efectivo de los Derechos Humanos (universales, indivisibles, interdependientes, inalienables e irrenunciables) interesa a todos y a todas. Cuando algún grupo de personas sufre su violación, otras personas (en esta hipótesis, muchos ciudadanos de la Unión) no se dan cuenta de que se cuestiona, sufre y peligra la misma esencia de la democracia.

The role of soils for achieving the Sustainable Development Goals is multifarious. Soils are the essential basis for food and biomass provision in support of food security (SDG 2) and energy security (SDG 7). Soil carbon sequestration is paramount for climate action (SDG 13). Soil-mediated water purification and retention, nutrient and matter cycling, and soils habitat functions are essential for maintaining ecosystem services and biodiversity (SDG 15). Healthy soils perform well in all these functions simultaneously. However, the globally increasing demand for food, fiber, and bio-based products poses massive challenges to soil health. Minimizing trade-offs between biomass production and soil health requires systemic approaches to assessment and governance of sustainable soil management in agriculture and food systems. It provides interdisciplinary insights into key questions: What are the impacts of agricultural management practices on sustainability targets in specific geophysical and socio-economic contexts? This book aims to fill a gap in research on women's political representation by developing a multidimensional assessment of female participation in subnational legislatures in a federal political system like Mexico. The Mexican experience in terms of women's political representation at the federal and subnational levels has been very successful, as the reforms created a more robust "gender electoral regime" that promoted an increase in the number of elected female legislators (1987-2021). Still, little is known about the impact of the rise in women's presence in Congresses on other dimensions of political representation, such as symbolic or substantive. Although previous studies on women's political representation in Mexico have yielded exciting conclusions based on empirical evidence and strengthened a theory focused on the analysis of presence, it is still insufficient to explain the other dimensions of representation and the relationship between them. Therefore, this book contributes to the comparative scholarship from the perspective of feminist neo-institutionalism, expanding the understanding of the relationship between women's formal and descriptive representation, the content of legislative work in terms of preferences and interests (substantive representation), and its symbolic effects on women and politics in general (symbolic representation). Women in Mexican Subnational Legislatures: From Descriptive to Substantive Representation will be of interest to political scientists, sociologists, and jurists interested in gender and politics.
