Book Description
I was hailed as the future king of the NFL.I'm Theo Fierro - everyone knows my name.I worked hard. Played harder. I had my eye on the prize.Until it was gone. Then fate crossed my path with Bexley.A siren who put fire in my heart. And every dream and goal became about her.Until it ended. She was a whirlwind of savage possession I wasn't prepared for.No warning could have ever saved me from being swept up in her tornado.AND LIKE ALL STORMS ... ONE DAY IT RETURNED.One day it begged for forgiveness, and for my heart. She had her reasons. And I have mine for resisting. No matter what, our lives are irrevocably entwined.Because as all storms go ... the allure to chase them is irresistible.AND MY QUEEN NEEDED TO KNOW WHO SHE BELONGED TO.Disclaimer: Though there's a few footballs in this book, it is not a sports romance. All the mushy kissing makes up for any lack of sports-balls.Complete Standalone; The series can be read out of order.

Storm
Author: Jim Cymbala
Publisher: Zondervan
ISBN: 0310338417
Category : Religion
Languages : en
Pages : 183
Book Description
Storm: What Jesus Is Saying to His Church is a book for every Christian who is concerned about the challenges that face believers today. Using powerful stories of people who have been transformed by Christ, it will strike a note of encouragement and hope, helping Christians to remember that a life surrendered to Christ in the midst of a church transformed by his presence cannot be defeated. No amount of spiritual darkness or cultural pressure can drown out the life-giving power of the gospel. Jim Cymbala believes that the church in America is in the middle of a powerful storm, the intensity of which is likely to increase in coming months and years. Many Christians are bewildered, disheartened, and concerned by what they see—a culture that’s become increasingly hostile to biblical Christianity and a church whose vital signs are quickly waning. Like the storm surge that overtook lower Manhattan during Hurricane Sandy, powerful forces have come together to create a surge that’s threatening the health of the church. Storm will talk about the tendency on the right and on the left to conflate the kingdom of God with a particular political party. Many conservative Christians have made the mistake of substituting America for the Israel of the Old Testament, failing to realize the danger of adopting Old Testament principles that were never affirmed in the New Testament. Their message has sometimes been harsh and legalistic, making it difficult for them to proclaim a gospel of grace. Even though there is a great deal of emphasis on the Bible in such churches, it can often be the wrong emphasis. Jim Cymbala will explore the importance of preaching a gospel of grace rather than a gospel of mixed messages, so common in the church today. He will speak of our need to understand spiritual battles and for total dependence on the Holy Spirit, and he will discuss the importance of prayer. He will also explore the motivational atmosphere of the early church which flourished despite far worse conditions than those we face today. We don’t need more church growth programs to turn the church around. What’s needed is a transformation at the heart of the church so that the gospel is preached, the Holy Spirit is allowed to lead, and lives are transformed.

Southern Manhattan Coastal Protection Study: Evaluating the Feasibility of a Multi-Purpose Levee
Author: Jesse M. Keenan
Publisher: New York City Economic Development Corporation
ISBN:
Category : Architecture
Languages : en
Pages : 74
Book Description
The Southern Manhattan Coastal Protection Study: Evaluating the Feasibility of an MPL report (the “Feasibility Study”) was conducted by a team led by ARCADIS U.S., Inc.. The team also included HR&A Advisors, Inc., FXFOWLE Architects, WXY Studio, Sive, Paget & Riesel P.C., AKRF, Inc., Ocean and Coastal Consultants, and Jesse M. Keenan (the “Study Team”). The Feasibility Study focused on an approximately 1.3-mile span of the eastern edge of Manhattan, from the Battery Maritime Building to Pier 35 (the “Study Area”). The Feasibility Study also analyzed adjacent areas that would be integral to a comprehensive flood protection solution for Southern Manhattan. The Feasibility Study concluded that: 1) An multi-protection levee (MPL) is technically feasible in the Study Area and will not induce flooding either in adjacent neighborhoods or across the East River. 2) An MPL is legally feasible within the existing regulatory framework. However, the required permitting/approvals processes will be complex and lengthy. 3) An MPL is financially feasible and could not only be self-financing, but could also help finance complementary flood protection investments in Southern Manhattan. The MPL options and conceptual development programs evaluated within the report were defined for feasibility analysis purposes; the findings within do not comprise a development proposal. The process to articulate, assess, and advance an actual development proposal for an MPL will be long and complex, and will require extensive local stakeholder engagement and coordination. The commitment to effectively address the known climate change risks must remain as the core driver of that process, especially regarding all future work that builds upon and follows up on this Feasibility Study. https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.5246133

You Are Here: NYC
Author: Katharine Harmon
Publisher: Chronicle Books
ISBN: 1616895497
Category : Design
Languages : en
Pages : 197
Book Description
Maps are magical. Every graphic, like every story, has a point of view, and New York is rife with mapmaking possibilities, thick with mythology, and glutted with history. You Are Here: NYC assembles some two hundred maps charting every inch and facet of the five boroughs, depicting New Yorks of past and present, and a city that never was. "A Nightclub Map of Harlem" traces a boozy night from the Radium and the Cotton Club to the Savoy and then the Lafayette; "Wonders of New York" pinpoints three hundred sites of interest, including the alleged location of Captain Kidd's buried treasure; the Ghostbusters subway map plots the route from Astral Projections Place to Stay Puft Street; and a rejected proposal of ornate topiaries illustrates a Central Park that might have been. This sequel to the best-selling You Are Here includes original essays by Bob Mankoff, Maria Popova, Sarah Boxer, and Rebecca Cooper, among others.
