Un établissement d’hébergement pour personnes âgées est-il une « entreprise comme une autre » ? Qu’est-ce qui permet d’évaluer la qualité du service rendu à la personne âgée ? La recherche de l’autonomie fonctionnelle optimale de celle-ci n’est-elle pas un gage de la qualité de la vie qui lui est proposée ? Sylvain Connangle est titulaire du CAFDES et exerce son rôle de directeur adjoint dans plusieurs établissements pour personnes âgées dans le sud-ouest de la France. Il développe notamment de nouvelles façons d’approcher les attentes des résidents au sein de ses établissements en partant de l’originalité de la culture gérontologique. Richard Vercauteren, sociologue, gérontologue, concepteur de projets gérontologiques, est directeur de l'Institut de gérontologie de l'Ouest à Nantes. Auteur de nombreux ouvrages et articles sur la réflexion dans l'action gérontologique, il a créé les premières méthodes de construction des projets de vie.
