Learning-Based Reconfigurable Multiple Access Schemes for Virtualized MTC Networks

Learning-Based Reconfigurable Multiple Access Schemes for Virtualized MTC Networks PDF Author: Tho Le-Ngoc
Publisher: Springer Nature
ISBN: 3030603822
Category : Computers
Languages : en
Pages : 191

Book Description
This book assists readers with understanding the key aspects, problems and solutions related to the design of proper Multiple Access Schemes for MTC (Machine-Type Communications) and IoT applications in 5G-and-beyond wireless networks. An overview of MTC applications and their traffic features are also provided. In addition, it presents a comprehensive review of MTC access schemes including orthogonal multiple access schemes (OMA), non-orthogonal multiple access schemes (NOMA), massive MIMO-based schemes and fast uplink grant approaches. It also proposes efficient and reconfigurable access schemes deploying machine learning and optimization techniques to address the main requirements of MTC networks. This book discusses potential research directions to further enhance the performance of MTC access schemes. Machine-type communications are expected to account for the dominant share of the traffic in future wireless networks. While in traditional wireless networks, designed for human-type communications, the focus is on support of large packet sizes in downlink, machine-type communication systems deal with heavy uplink traffic. This is due to the nature of the tasks performed by machine-type communication devices, which is mainly reporting measured data or a detected event. Furthermore, in these networks, using the virtualization framework, the network infrastructure can be shared between different applications for which providing isolation is of high importance. To support these unique characteristics of machine-type communications, proper access schemes need to be developed, which is the focus of this book. This book benefits advanced-level students studying computer science and electrical engineering as a secondary textbook and researchers working in this field. Engineers and practitioners interested in the challenges and practical solutions of integrating MTC in the cloud radio access network of 5G-and-beyond cellular systems will want to purchase this book as well.

Handbook of Algorithms for Wireless Networking and Mobile Computing

Handbook of Algorithms for Wireless Networking and Mobile Computing PDF Author: Azzedine Boukerche
Publisher: CRC Press
ISBN: 1420035096
Category : Computers
Languages : en
Pages : 1042

Book Description
The Handbook of Algorithms for Wireless Networking and Mobile Computing focuses on several aspects of mobile computing, particularly algorithmic methods and distributed computing with mobile communications capability. It provides the topics that are crucial for building the foundation for the design and construction of future generations of mobile and wireless networks, including cellular, wireless ad hoc, sensor, and ubiquitous networks. Following an analysis of fundamental algorithms and protocols, the book offers a basic overview of wireless technologies and networks. Other topics include issues related to mobility, aspects of QoS provisioning in wireless networks, future applications, and much more.

Efficient Wireless MAC Protocols

Efficient Wireless MAC Protocols PDF Author: Alexander Mueller
Publisher: VDM Publishing
ISBN: 9783836424363
Category : Computers
Languages : en
Pages : 124

Book Description
In the last few years WLANs have become more and more popular, enabling access to the Internet and to private or company-internal networks all over the place. With the increasing amount of users sharing one and the same medium, running demanding applications with the need of exchanging larger and larger quantities of data, the necessity has grown to provide information interchange with satisfactory quality of service (QoS). The latter property requires among other things a MAC protocol enabling an efficient and fair medium access for competing network participants. In this book, different MAC schemes are investigated under the aspect of QoS, examining their efficiency and displaying their strengths and weaknesses. Those key elements which influence the QoS are tried to be analyzed and based on these results some propositions are presented which could be implemented in a new protocol to provide a satisfying QoS. The intention of this book is to help the reader get familiarized with existing MAC protocols, allow deeper understanding of the general functionality of medium access mechanisms and enable certain acquirement of sensitivity in the context of recognizing MAC scheme immanent problems. The book is aimed at computer scientists, students and interested readers who want to understand in more detail one of the main elements of QoS to efficiently support wireless data communication.

Publisher: Elsevier
ISBN: 0080469965
Category : Technology & Engineering
Languages : en
Pages : 540

Book Description
Expert contributors drawn from the ranks of academia and industry have authored chapters in such areas as third-generation wireless, wireless sensor networks, RF power amplifiers, spread spectrum modulation, signal propagation, antennas, and other key subjects that engineers working in RF and wireless need to be familiar with. This is far more than just a tutorial or reference guideā€”it is a "guided tour" through the world of cutting-edge RF and wireless design, combining theory, applications, and philosophies behind the RF/wireless design process. The multiple and sometimes overlapping chapters reiterate and emphasize the fundamentals in the context of different types of wireless applications. Here are just a few benefits that readers will gain from reading this book:*A refresher and update of wireless principles and techniques.*Information about the latest (and forthcoming) RF and wireless circuits, products and systems.*Guidelines, approaches, and techniques to RF/wireless design.*Examples of typical applications with an emphasis on real-world situations including existing and forthcoming new components and integrated circuits.*Coverage of new and emerging wireless topics heretofore not widely covered in print (e.g. UWB, RFID, IR, etc.)* A comprehensive survey of current RF and wireless engineering practice * Heavy emphasis on practical applications and design guidelines* Multiple contributors assure a wide range of perspectives and avoids individual bias
