Records of Yoga

Records of Yoga PDF Author: Aurobindo Ghose
Publisher:
ISBN:
Category : Yoga
Languages : en
Pages : 802

Book Description
The diary of Sri Aurobindo's yogic experiences between 1909 and 1927. Most entries are from 1912 to 1920. Other materials he wrote relating to his practice of yoga, such as Sapta Chatusthaya which formed the basis of the yoga of the Record, are also included. NOTE: The complete text of Record of Yoga was brought out serially in the Sri Aurobindo Archives and Research journal. This is the first time that it has been brought out in book form (in both soft and hard cover). This material did not appear in the Sri Aurobindo Birth Centenary Library (SABCL) set. Those who already have the SABCL set of 30 volumes may prefer procuring the hard cover editions as they are bound in cloth, light cream in colour, with PVC jacket and match the colour and binding of the SABCL set. However the size (14cm x 22cm) is smaller than the SABCL volumes. In writing his diary Sri Aurobindo used a special terminology which included words from Sanskrit and other languages, as well as abbreviations, symbols and markings. Click here to view a provisional online glossary of terms in Record of Yoga. A more extensive print version will be issued at a future date.

Looking Within

Looking Within PDF Author: Cullen Ruff
Publisher: Light Messages Publishing
ISBN: 1611533228
Category : Biography & Autobiography
Languages : en
Pages : 261

Book Description
What would it be like to have x-ray vision? Beyond diagnosing illness or injury, can images of ourselves tell us more about life? What if you could see that an accident victim will never walk again; that a young mother has breast cancer; or that a teenager is brain-dead and will be removed from life support? Can imaging help us better appreciate the complexity of existence, our strengths and vulnerabilities? Does looking into the body give insight into what it means to be human? Would it allow you, at least indirectly, to glimpse evidence of the human soul? Looking Within is the first mainstream collection of dramatic non-fiction narratives about discoveries in patients found by medical imaging. Ruff highlights the wonder and mystery of the human body, literally and metaphorically looking inside of others. Each story describes a patient in whom a life-changing discovery is made: tumors, stroke, domestic violence, substance abuse, sterility, unexpected pregnancy, infection, surgical complications, evidence of criminal activity, mental illness, even impending death. Dr. Ruff’s words, images, and insights help us see ourselves like never before.

Heroes and Monsters

Heroes and Monsters PDF Author: Josh James Riebock
Publisher: Baker Books
ISBN: 144123585X
Category : Religion
Languages : en
Pages : 305

Book Description
Every one of us is both a hero and a monster, and the world we inhabit is both beautiful and twisted. We are shaken by changes, losses, gains, insights, desires, mistakes, and transitions. And just when we've gotten settled back down, things get shaken up again. This is the life we've been given. So how do we make sense of life's unexpected nature, find a way to embrace the tension, and live with a sense of peace despite pain? In this stunningly honest, compelling, and ultimately hopeful book, Josh James Riebock explores issues of trust, obedience, intimacy, dreams, grief, purpose, and the unexpected stops along the journey that form us into the people we are. In a creative way, he shows readers that pain and beauty are so inextricably linked that to lose the former costs us the latter. Those grappling with life's inconsistencies and trials will especially find a welcome resonance between their lives and Heroes and Monsters. Riebock both validates their experiences and challenges them to live beyond them in this ever-changing life.
