Modeling and Simulation
Languages, Compilers and Run-time Environments for Distributed Memory Machines
Author: J. Saltz
Publisher: Elsevier
ISBN: 1483295389
Category : Computers
Languages : en
Pages : 323
Book Description
Papers presented within this volume cover a wide range of topics related to programming distributed memory machines. Distributed memory architectures, although having the potential to supply the very high levels of performance required to support future computing needs, present awkward programming problems. The major issue is to design methods which enable compilers to generate efficient distributed memory programs from relatively machine independent program specifications. This book is the compilation of papers describing a wide range of research efforts aimed at easing the task of programming distributed memory machines.

Proceedings of the 1987 International Conference on Parallel Processing
Author: Sartaj Sahni
Publisher: Penn State University Press
ISBN:
Category : Parallel processing (Electronic computers)
Languages : en
Pages : 950
Book Description
Interest in the field of parallel processing has soared in this decade. Response to the annual conference held at Pheasant Run is clear proof: in the early 1980s just over 100 papers were submitted each year; in 1987 over 400 papers were considered. Such heightened interest is both gratifying and challenging in that the increasingly demanding applications in science, medicine, and industry that result from these studies are dependent upon the parallel systems as computing resources. The studies in this volume describe recent advances in all aspects of parallel/distributed logic circuits, impact of VLSI to parallel processor architecture, various concurrent-, distributed-, parallel-, pipeline-, or multiple-processor architectures; processor memory interconnections; computer networks; distributed databases; reliability and fault tolerance, modeling and simulation techniques; performance measurements; operating systems; languages; algorithms; mathematical analysis; and various application studies A rigorous standard governed the paper selection process in an effort to insure that the proceedings reflect the state of the art in parallel processing theory, design, and applications. Of vital interest to researchers, engineers, scientists, programmers, systems analysts, managers, and other interested in the design and application of parallel/distributed processors and processing.

InfoSphere DataStage Parallel Framework Standard Practices
Author: Julius Lerm
Publisher: IBM Redbooks
ISBN: 0738434477
Category : Computers
Languages : en
Pages : 458
Book Description
In this IBM® Redbooks® publication, we present guidelines for the development of highly efficient and scalable information integration applications with InfoSphereTM DataStage® (DS) parallel jobs. InfoSphere DataStage is at the core of IBM Information Server, providing components that yield a high degree of freedom. For any particular problem there might be multiple solutions, which tend to be influenced by personal preferences, background, and previous experience. All too often, those solutions yield less than optimal, and non-scalable, implementations. This book includes a comprehensive detailed description of the components available, and descriptions on how to use them to obtain scalable and efficient solutions, for both batch and real-time scenarios. The advice provided in this document is the result of the combined proven experience from a number of expert practitioners in the field of high performance information integration, evolved over several years. This book is intended for IT architects, Information Management specialists, and Information Integration specialists responsible for delivering cost-effective IBM InfoSphere DataStage performance on all platforms.

Programming Environments for High-level Scientific Problem Solving
Author: Pat W. Gaffney
Publisher: North Holland
ISBN:
Category : Computers
Languages : en
Pages : 436
Book Description
Programming environments, as the name suggests, are intended to provide a unified, extensive range of capabilities for a person wishing to solve a problem using a computer. In this particular proceedings volume, the problem considered is a high-level scientific computation. In other words, a scientific problem whose solution usually requires sophisticated computing techniques and a large allocation of computing resources.

Custom Memory Management Methodology
Author: Francky Catthoor
Publisher: Springer Science & Business Media
ISBN: 1475728492
Category : Computers
Languages : en
Pages : 352
Book Description
The main intention of this book is to give an impression of the state-of-the-art in system-level memory management (data transfer and storage) related issues for complex data-dominated real-time signal and data processing applications. The material is based on research at IMEC in this area in the period 1989- 1997. In order to deal with the stringent timing requirements and the data dominated characteristics of this domain, we have adopted a target architecture style and a systematic methodology to make the exploration and optimization of such systems feasible. Our approach is also very heavily application driven which is illustrated by several realistic demonstrators, partly used as red-thread examples in the book. Moreover, the book addresses only the steps above the traditional high-level synthesis (scheduling and allocation) or compilation (traditional or ILP oriented) tasks. The latter are mainly focussed on scalar or scalar stream operations and data where the internal structure of the complex data types is not exploited, in contrast to the approaches discussed here. The proposed methodologies are largely independent of the level of programmability in the data-path and controller so they are valuable for the realisation of both hardware and software systems. Our target domain consists of signal and data processing systems which deal with large amounts of data.
