Performance Factors for Circular, Hydrostatic, Gas-lubricated Thrust Bearings : Part II, Multiple Inlet Thrust Bearings

Performance Factors for Circular, Hydrostatic, Gas-lubricated Thrust Bearings : Part II, Multiple Inlet Thrust Bearings PDF Author: Dudgeon, E. H
Publisher: National Research Council of Canada, Division of Mechanical Engineering
ISBN:
Category : Gas-lubricated bearings
Languages : en
Pages : 60

Book Description
Procedures are described for the design of both orifice-compensated and inherently-compensated hydrostatic gas thrust bearings. A new empirical correlation for the compensation loss in inherently-compensated bearings is presented. The analytical predictions are compared with experimental results for a number of different single inlet thrust bearings over a range of parameters. The proposed design method is general and can be applied, using appropriate load factors, to multiple inlet thrust bearings. (Author).
