Depuis quelques décennies, les lacs de villégiature au Québec sont exposés à une problématique de transport de sédiments. De nombreuses sources de sédiments peuvent participer à ces apports vers les plans d'eau. Dans le cadre de ce projet de recherche, en collaboration avec la municipalité d'Adstock, les objectifs sont d'identifier la source principale de sédiments qui envase le lac à la Truite et d'élaborer une méthodologie d'implantation de solutions de gestion des eaux pluviales spécifiques au bassin versant à l'étude, permettant de restreindre ce transport de sédiments. Cette implantation doit considérer les contraintes socio-économiques et légales auxquelles la municipalité est confrontée. La source principale de sédiments provient du revêtement de la chaussée du chemin J.-E. Fortin (chemin non pavé, ceinturant la majorité du périmètre du lac). Les résultats démontrent, en effet, des concentrations pondérées par les niveaux d'eau presque deux fois plus élevées pour les sous-bassins versants (SBV) de faible pente et de faible superficie (SBV 7 et 17), attribuables à un impact plus important du lessivage du revêtement sur le ruissellement par rapport à celui provenant du cours d'eau forestier que pour les SBV ayant une superficie et une pente supérieures (SBV 15 et 24). Ces derniers SBV diluent davantage les apports en sédiments de la chaussée malgré un taux d'érosion du couvert forestier plus élevé, confirmant l'impact considérable du chemin sur ces concentrations pondérées. Un autre indice permet d'attester l'influence du ruissellement du revêtement sur la qualité de l'eau des affluents au lac, soit la comparaison entre les concentrations en matières en suspension (MES) (récoltées lors de l'événement du 8-9 août 2018) d'un point d'échantillonnage situé en amont de la chaussée et d'un autre situé en aval du chemin, considérant à la fois le ruissellement du chemin et celui du cours d'eau en forêt. Les résultats démontrent une augmentation de 48 % des concentrations pour le SBV 15 et de 117 % pour le SBV 17 entre les deux points d'échantillonnage. Les observations sur le terrain pendant les événements pluvieux témoignent également d'une forte turbidité provenant du drainage du chemin. Les solutions proposées ciblent le drainage du chemin J.-E. Fortin et la protection des pentes sensibles à l'érosion. Des solutions de gestion des eaux pluviales pourraient également être appliquées à l'ensemble du bassin versant, permettant de diminuer les débits de pointe des SBV critiques pouvant accentuer l'érosion des cours d'eau forestiers, de l'infrastructure routière et des affluents au lac.
