Our information has been gathered largely through personal experience and observation. Having traveled over almost the entire section described in the following pages, we have been enabled to gather reliable information concerning the different points of interest, otherwise unobtainable, while to some extent, we have been compelled to draw from other sources for the information necessary for a book of this kind, believing that the information herein contained is the most complete and reliable of any previously published. The maps and engravings in this book were made especially for this purpose. The photographs from which the engravings were made, were taken by the author in his rambles through mountains and valleys in search of the information for this work.
