The third policy adopted in February 1983 by the aba house of delegates opposes the enactment of any statute which would sup plant or supplement the verdict of not guilty by reason of insanity with an alternative verdict of guilty but mentally ill. Now, I would like to comment briefly on the bills which are being considered by this committee, and apply the above three poli cies to those bills. Mr. Conyers. We could save some time by just considering Mr. Gekas' and Mr. Conyers' bills. That would help things incredibly. General hodson. I believe I can do it in a very summary order, if you will, because our three policies hit at all of the bills in one aspect or another.
