His visit to Pickles & Son, Sandhurst, who are doing little buggy work 'although five or six different fires are kept on Railway carriages.' At coachsmithing alone saw only three fires. Very much less than numbers of shops in Melbourne would employ. Saw girls employed at trimming for the first time. Describes a 'beautiful little Abbott' which 'has nothing like the amount of elaborate smith work which the Warrnambool people put on.' Diagrams of this and another Abbott. His travels through Sandhurst area as agent for Melbourne firm which enlarges photographs. End missing.
