Il existe ainsi des différences notables entre tous ces modes d'exercice qui amènent à des équipes médicales, des structures, des conditions et des charges de travail bien différentes. La description de ces différentes façons de pratiquer l'art dentaire permet d'évaluer les avantages et inconvénients de chaque pratique et ce aussi bien pour le personnel soignant que pour les soignés. De nombreuses inégalités et difficultés étant aujourd'hui misent en lumière. Elle nous permet également d'évaluer la position et la situation de l'exercice des chirurgiens dentistes français dont la pratique libérale est sous la menace d'un avenir incertain. Et même si celui-ci semble être l'un des plus favorable à travers les continents il présente néanmoins quelques lacunes.
