Dans un second temps, le mécanisme immunologique de l'allergie sera détaillé puis nous verrons, parmi les plus répandus, les différents allergènes en chirurgie orale. Enfin, la dernière partie sera consacrée aux moyens thérapeutiques de l'allergie et à la prévention qui doit être encouragée pour sensibiliser les professionnels de santé ainsi que les patients devant être acteurs de leur santé.

Pour des raisons diverses le nombre de personne souffrant d'allergie est de plus en plus important. Dans l'exercice de la chirurgie dentaire certains produits utilisés peuvent être allergisants. Ce problème nous intéresse donc au premier plan. Une hypersensibilité peut créer des réactions plus ou moins importantes, certaines même peuvent entraîner la mort de l'individu lors de choc anaphylactique par exemple. Les praticiens sont confrontés à ces réactions avec les produits anesthésiques, les antibiotiques ou les biomatériaux. On relève 4 types d'hypersensibilités qui provoquent un processus mettant en jeu différentes cellules du système immunitaire (macrophages, basophiles, éosinophiles, lymphocytes, cellules dentritiques...) dont certaines délivreront des médiateurs (cytokines,...) qui induiront des effets systémiques allant du simple urticaire à l'oedème de Quincke ou d'autres syndromes mortels. Il est intéressant d'étudier les médiateurs pour mieux comprendre et utiliser les traitements adéquats en présence de réactions allergiques.

The result is, that in fresh human red blood cells the Ca+ concentra tion is ;;;; O.4,uM (this is an upper estimate; the true value may be considerably lower).
