Book Description
The writing of the stories in this book has been my life raft in the biggest storm of my life. A storm that may very well have pulled me under without my journey into the past keeping me on an even keel. This book has so many things written into each story. They are written with love and some of the happiest memories of the past that I can ever begin to recall. Some with sadness for what once was but will never to be again. I relate to the people that have read my stories in the small town news paper of which they have been published, because I am one of them. I cannot tell you how many people have told me how the things I have written have also flooded their heart and souls with memories they thought were long since forgotten. I am also in the process of writing a novel titled The Good Old Boys Club, Corruption in Small Town America. I am hoping to have it completed by the end of 2007. I am presently compiling another book of the Legacy Of Love stories. One half of those stories will have appeared in the paper and the other half will not have been read until the book is published. I think every one deserves a surprise.

Your Legacy of Love
Author: Gemini Adams
Publisher: Live Consciously
ISBN: 0615193757
Category : Family & Relationships
Languages : en
Pages : 267
Book Description
Grief expert, Gemini Adams, wrote this Mom's Choice Gold Award Winning book, "Your Legacy of Love: Realize the Gift in Goodbye" to help others understand that writing a Will simply isn't enough. After losing her Mom to cancer, Gemini quickly discovered that an inheritance of money and material possessions doesn't give surviving family the ongoing support or continued connection they desire. Wondering if her need for a more loving legacy was shared, she started an online survey asking: "What would you prefer if one of your parents died: to inherit their wealth or a letter saying how much they loved you?" Over 90% expressed a wish for the loving letter. In this heartfelt and inspirational book, Gemini explains that our real "wealth" lies not in our Financial Assets, but our Emotional Assets: the stories, lessons, values, wisdom image, voice, laughter and love that makes us who we are. And how this purposeful activity, is not, as some might expect, a morbid task, but one that can bring incredible insight, peace of mind, and healing, especially for those dealing with aging parents, a terminal illness or loss. By capturing and sharing our Emotional Assets in a Legacy of Love, we can leave our children, partners, and grandchildren a precious parting gift, a timeless memento that will surely be treasured forever. Readers will also discover how to: - Write loving letters to gift as future surprises. - Encourage grief recovery for surviving family. - Provide them with ongoing emotional support. - Minimize effects of grief and bereavement. - Guarantee the preservation of special memories. - Capture and record their life story. - Limit stress surrounding end-of-life situations. - Achieve peace of mind and a sense of meaning to life. - Educate themselves and overcome denial about death and dying. - Plan a life celebration or funeral that truly reflects them. True Love Cast Out All Evil
Author: Brian T. Atkinson
Publisher:
ISBN: 9781648430435
Category :
Languages : en
Pages : 240
Book Description
"Transcendence came with a price," Brian T. Atkinson writes in his introduction to this collection of reflections by and about pioneer psychedelic rocker Roky Erickson (1947-2019). The singer and songwriter who fronted the 13th Floor Elevators burst onto the Texas music scene in 1966 with the release of "You're Gonna Miss Me," the band's only charting single, which featured Erickson's primal vocal stylings. The band attracted considerable regional attention, including interest from a young Janis Joplin, who considered joining the group before opting to go to San Francisco instead. Through his interviews with those who were there and presentation of Erickson's own words, Atkinson chronicles how Erickson was haunted for most of his life by mental illness, likely compounded by his liberal usage of hallucinogenic and other drugs. Despite that, however, his influence on Texas musicians of various genres is vast. As Billy Gibbons of ZZ Top attests in his foreword, "He stands alone to this day and is revered as an artist because he had the gift of a wonderful voice." As with his previous books on Townes Van Zandt, Ray Wylie Hubbard, and Mickey Newbury, Atkinson has recorded hours of interviews with veteran and upcoming musicians who were impacted by Roky Erickson. Along with the insights of long-time music journalists like Joe Nick Patoski and the bittersweet recollections of friends and family members like Mikel Erickson, brother of the singer, this work includes poetry and lyrics written by Erickson during his confinement at Rusk State Hospital in the late 1960s and early 1970s. The picture that emerges is that of a brilliant, troubled mind and an artist whose influence extended far beyond the period of his greatest notoriety, continuing even beyond his death.

The Most Excellent Way to Lead
Author: Perry Noble
Publisher: NavPress
ISBN: 149641215X
Category : Religion

Pages : 285
Book Description
Speakers often use the words vision, boldness, and influence to describe the characteristics of effective leaders. Perry Noble, in The Most Excellent Way to Lead, makes the case that the heart of great leadership lies elsewhere. Perry, despite “winning” the label “least likely to succeed” in high school, beat the odds against him. Today, he inspires thirty-five thousand people every weekend to live for something greater than themselves. He credits this achievement to the leadership principles he has learned from the Bible. Surprisingly, the essence of leadership that produces genuine growth is buried in a Bible chapter often read at weddings. In this groundbreaking book, Perry walks us through that leadership chapter, describing the fifteen qualities of an inspirational leader. Whether you are an entrepreneur or a new parent, this book will encourage you to see every opportunity in life as a chance to lead in the “most excellent way.”
