Le premier article de cette thèse consiste en une recension de la littérature ayant pour objectif de donner une vision d'ensemble actualisée des connaissances relatives au fonctionnement cognitif et neuropsychologique des enfants atteints de déficience motrice cérébrale (dmc). Le second article vise à mesurer en quoi les particularités des enfants atteints d'hémiplégie ont un impact sur leur fonctionnement cognitif et sur la rapidité de leur traitement des informations. Cette étude a été réalisée auprès de 60 enfants, divisés en deux groupes (enfants atteints d'hémiplégie vs groupe contrôle). Les enfants hémiplégiques traiteraient globalement l'information plus lentement que les enfants non-atteints. Ils réagiraient plus lentement de manière motrice. Toutefois, seulement ceux avec un trouble attentionnel associé traiteraient cognitivement plus lentement les informations. La sévérité du handicap physique, la latéralisation de la lésion et l'intelligence générale de l'enfant seraient aussi reliées à la vitesse de traitement.
