La educación tiene como objetivo proporcionar el desarrollo de las capacidades de comunicación en el acto de leer. Las estrategias didácticas que emplea el profesor para que los alumnos lean compresivamente son elementos importantes para el conocimiento significativo del niño. Estas consideraciones llevaron a investigar el problema de lectura en niños de tercer grado en Educación Primaria. Para un mejor estudio se tomó en cuenta el empleo de actividades y estrategias de lectura con la finalidad de que los alumnos mejoren la comprensión de textos, conjuntamente se analizaron las teorías de Jean Piaget y Lev S. Vigotsky sustentando la práctica docente para propiciar en el niño la adquisición de habilidades para la comprensión de la lectura. La recolección de datos se llevó a cabo por medio de: la observación; para lograr el objetivo de la investigación se tomó una muestra representativa de 10 alumnos, a los cuales se les realizó una entrevista (en forma individual). Los resultados obtenidos demostraron la falta de estrategias de lectura en los alumnos y la elaboración de las mismas por el docente y efectivamente el buen uso de ellas contribuye significativamente al desarrollo educativo y de seguir aplicándolas se alcanzará significativamente la comprensión de textos.
