Cet ouvrage propose de nouvelles clés de compréhension de l’art contemporain. Il n’est pas question de s’interroger sur le sens des œuvres mais bien plus sur les formes de médiation qu’on leur associe – ainsi que sur la manière dont ces formes sont conçues, diffusées et reçues.Différentes approches sont envisagées qui empruntent toutes au domaine de la pragmatique linguistique. À partir de l’observation de cas concrets, il s’agit notamment d’analyser différentes situations d’énonciations suscitées par des textes entourant des œuvres ou des expositions.Ces textes mettent en scène des énoncés, énonciateurs et énonciations ; ils ont une certaine dimension performative ; ils contiennent des éléments implicites ou sous-entendus qui mettent en jeu la relation de leurs auteurs à des contextes et des publics spécifiques. Ici, la question du dialogisme, empruntée à Bakhtine, permet de synthétiser ces différentes approches et d’envisager autrement la circulation de la parole – et du sens – autour des œuvres.
