Book Description
In July 2016, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR), and the Ohio State Historic Preservation Office (OSHPO) executed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) to resolve adverse effects to historic properties within the Lake Loramie Reservoir Rehabilitation Project area, in Lake Loramie State Park, Shelby County, Ohio. The project includes modifications to the spillway and earthen embankment of Lake Loramie Dam (SHE0127904), a contributing element to the Miami and Erie Canal, which is eligible for listing in the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP). In order to resolve adverse effects to the resource, the parties to the MOA agreed to complete a historical context study of Lake Loramie State Park. This study investigates the relatively undocumented period between the end of the canal era and the 20th century development of the state park facility and its subsequent development from that time through the 1970s.
