Book Description
Morgan Sherburn is a cop from Los Angeles who, while cleaning out her family's English manor house after the death of her great-grandfather, stumbles across her great-grandmother's journal from her trip to Egypt back in the 1920's. Morgan has been told that her great-grandmother died in Egypt of a fever but she comes to discover in the pages of the journal that her great-grandmother may have been murdered because of a mysterious papyrus, called the "Lady of Heaven" papyrus, that is still in the family's possession. Enlisting the help of Dr. Fox Henredon, a prestigious British Egyptologist, to assist in deciphering the papyrus seems like a mistake at first. Dr. Henredon is handsome, brilliant and skeptical, and when he and Morgan come together, the sparks fly. But when the dust settles and a strong attraction develops, Morgan is determined to go to Egypt to track the clues of the "Lady of Heaven" papyrus, which Fox has discovered to be an ancient document alluding to the tomb of the goddess Isis. As Fox and Morgan dig deeper and deeper into the clues of the mysterious papyrus, old legends become truth, friends turn out to be enemies, and in the middle of it, Morgan discovers the truth about her great-grandmother that she could have never imagined. Along with the truth about her great-grandmother come discoveries and danger on a catastrophic scale. Clever twists and ancient mysteries abound in this deeply romantic novel set in the timeless sands of Egypt where ancient legends and modern realities collide.

Book Description
When stars were many and people few, a great story was told everywhere. The first storytellers were women. Their story was so large it filled the universe it told of a Great Mother encompassing life, death and return of everything. When Neolithic farming people settled, and depended on plentiful crops and herds, a goddess of fertility stepped into stardom. Inanna is the Sumerian goddess of love, crescent moon, evening star, fertility and renewal. She is the longest lasting supreme goddess of the Ancient Near East. Inannas biography includes her rise to supreme holder of almost all the powers of culture and civilization. 5000 year old poems bring Inanna to life. She sings to her miraculous vulva and to her consort-lover; she struggles to keep her powers and complains of her losses and demotions. Inanna represents lifes powerful contradictions. She changes peace to war and back again; she causes strife and brings love; she turns women into men and men into women. Inanna loves all her people, every one. A biography must have adversity and Inanna has plenty; she must always conquer of the ever-rising tide of patriarchal domination in all its forms. Buried and forgotten for two millennia, she now steps from the dust, ties up her sandals, applies her kohl, adjusts her tiara, summons her lions, and returns. Her story is also womans story. Let me introduce you to Inanna, Queen of Heaven, Earth, and almost everything

Queen of Heaven

Queen of Heaven PDF Author: Lilla Grindlay
Publisher: University of Notre Dame Pess
ISBN: 0268104123
Category : Literary Criticism
Languages : en
Pages : 291

Book Description
The belief that the Virgin Mary was bodily assumed to be crowned as heaven’s Queen has been celebrated in the liturgy and literature of England since the fifth century. The upheaval of the Reformation brought radical changes in the beliefs surrounding the assumption and coronation, both of which were eliminated from state-approved liturgy. Queen of Heaven examines canonical as well as obscure images of the Blessed Mother that present fresh evidence of the incompleteness of the English Reformation. Through an analysis of works by writers such as Edmund Spenser, Henry Constable, Sir John Harington, and the writers of the early modern rosary books, which were contraband during the Reformation, Grindlay finds that these images did not simply disappear during this time as lost “Catholic” symbols, but instead became sources of resistance and controversy, reflecting the anxieties triggered by the religious changes of the era. Grindlay’s study of the Queen of Heaven affords an insight into England’s religious pluralism, revealing a porousness between medieval and early modern perspectives toward the Virgin and dispelling the notion that Catholic and Protestant attitudes on the subject were completely different. Grindlay reveals the extent to which the potent and treasured image of the Queen of Heaven was impossible to extinguish and remained of widespread cultural significance. Queen of Heaven will appeal to an academic audience, but its fresh, uncomplicated style will also engage intelligent, well-informed readers who have an interest in the Virgin Mary and in English Reformation history.
