Las primeras noticias acerca de la existencia del rock and roll llegan a España a mediados de los años 50 por medio de la prensa, que observa esta circunstancia con indiferencia o recelo. Nada hace presagiar el impacto que este fenómeno cultural tendrá en pocos años. Desde finales de los años 50 la introducción de este nuevo estilo musical comienza a dar sus frutos y pronto surgen los primeros músicos españoles interesados en interpretarlo. El principal propósito de esta investigación es doble; en primer lugar se persigue dilucidar cuáles son las vías por las que se introduce el pop en España, circunstancia que suscita en breve la aparición de músicos autóctonos que adoptan este estilo musical como propio, en segundo lugar se pretende investigar si es la radio musical la principal impulsora de la génesis de este fenómeno en España. Para apoyar nuestra premisa (la radio musical es el principal agente responsable de la génesis del pop español), se comprobará su veracidad mediante el planteamiento y contraste de una serie de hipótesis que se derivan de la misma. Estas hipótesis se pueden concretar en: Existen diferentes vías por las que penetra la música pop en España; la radio musical es la vía más importante para la introducción de la música pop en España; la radio musical es la principal responsable para que surja al pop español.
