Introduction : les services des urgences ne sont pas épargnés par le vieillissement de la population française. Ils constituent même la principale voie d'accès à une hospitalisation pour les personnes âgées. Ces dernières constituent une population fragile, à la fois sur le plan médical mais également social. Notre travail s'intéressait aux recours aux urgences des personnes âgées de 75 ans et plus pour un maintien à domicile difficile. Méthodes : il s'agissait d'une étude épidémiologique, observationnelle, transversale et monocentrique, avec un recueil rétro-prospectif des données, réalisée aux urgences du centre hospitalier de Pontarlier durant l'été 2023. Un hétéro-questionnaire était à remplir dans ce service par le personnel médical pour tous les patients de 75 ans et plus consultant aux urgences. Résultats : cent trois questionnaires ont été analysés, permettant de mettre en évidence que les consultations aux urgences des personnes âgées de 75 ans et plus, pour un motif social, ne sont pas majoritaires. Notre étude a permis d'identifier ces patients présentant un maintien à domicile difficile : cela concerne essentiellement des femmes âgées de 90 ans et plus, isolées socialement. Conclusion : ce travail n'a pas prouvé la prépondérance des consultations aux urgences pour un motif social des personnes âgées, comparativement aux causes médicales. Il est important d'identifier, en médecine ambulatoire, les patients avec des fragilités, afin d'éviter les recours aux urgences pour un maintien à domicile difficile.
