Missionaires Oblates

Missionaires Oblates PDF Author: Rosa Bruno-Jofré
Publisher: McGill-Queen's Press - MQUP
ISBN: 0773575499
Category : Religion
Languages : en
Pages : 248

Book Description

Guidelines to the Auditor in Prospectus and Other Related Engagements

Guidelines to the Auditor in Prospectus and Other Related Engagements PDF Author:
Publisher: Maklu
ISBN: 9046602761
Category : Business & Economics
Languages : en
Pages : 154

Book Description
A new regime for prospectuses has recently become effective in Belgium, following the European Directive 2003/71/EC and the Commission Regulation 809/2004. This book discusses the role of the auditor in conjunction with various parts of the prospectus. It explains how the auditor has to organize and perform his work and how he has to report on the information required by the law, the Prospectus Directive, and the Regulation. In providing guidelines on the performance of the various audit tasks, there is also some guidance on the nature, the content, and the qualitative characteristics of the information which is reported on. This guide also takes into account various other documents that give recommendations or advice on the application of the Regulation or on the auditor's involvement in conjunction with the issuance of a prospectus under the Regulation. Such other documents were published by the Committee of European Securities Regulators (CESR) and by the FÃ?Â(c)dÃ?Â(c)ration des Experts Comptables EuropÃ?Â(c)ens - Federation of European Accountants (FEE). As the European Commission Regulation is applicable directly in all Member States of the European Community, and the Prospectus Directive is transferred into the national law of all Member States, this book is a valuable guide to this important part of bank and finance law in Europe.

Marine Transboundary Conservation and Protected Areas

Marine Transboundary Conservation and Protected Areas PDF Author: Peter Mackelworth
Publisher: Routledge
ISBN: 1317530462
Category : Nature
Languages : en
Pages : 327

Book Description
The marine environment does not naturally respect arbitrary international boundaries. The establishment and management of transboundary marine protected areas therefore presents major governance challenges. This book analyses a series of marine transboundary conservation initiatives embedded in varying contextual situations to examine the underlying reasons for their success or failure. Utilising an adapted ‘pathways of influence’ framework, it provides insights into the development of marine transboundary conservation initiatives looking at the effectiveness of international rules, international norms and discourse, market forces and direct access to policy making. Examples come from a wide range of jurisdictions, including territorial seas, continental shelves, exclusive economic zones and areas beyond national jurisdiction. Case studies include initiatives in the Coral Triangle, West Africa, Central America, the Wadden Sea, the Red Sea and the Mediterranean Sea. In addition the authors assess the potential for developing wider international cooperation as a result of relationships forged though involvement within these marine transboundary conservation initiatives.

Embryo Politics

Embryo Politics PDF Author: Thomas Banchoff
Publisher: Cornell University Press
ISBN: 0801461073
Category : Political Science
Languages : en
Pages : 305

Book Description
Since the first fertilization of a human egg in the laboratory in 1968, scientific and technological breakthroughs have raised ethical dilemmas and generated policy controversies on both sides of the Atlantic. Embryo, stem cell, and cloning research have provoked impassioned political debate about their religious, moral, legal, and practical implications. National governments make rules that govern the creation, destruction, and use of embryos in the laboratory—but they do so in profoundly different ways. In Embryo Politics, Thomas Banchoff provides a comprehensive overview of political struggles about embryo research during four decades in four countries—the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany, and France. Banchoff’s book, the first of its kind, demonstrates the impact of particular national histories and institutions on very different patterns of national governance. Over time, he argues, partisan debate and religious-secular polarization have come to overshadow ethical reflection and political deliberation on the moral status of the embryo and the promise of biomedical research. Only by recovering a robust and public ethical debate will we be able to govern revolutionary life-science technologies effectively and responsibly into the future.

European Yearbook / Annuaire Europeen , 1966 PDF Author: Council of Europe/Conseil de L'Europe
Publisher: Martinus Nijhoff Publishers
ISBN: 9789024709298
Category : Political Science
Languages : en
Pages : 910

Book Description
The "European Yearbook" promotes the scientific study of nineteen European supranational organisations and the OECD. The series offers a detailed survey of the history, structure and yearly activities of each organisation and an up-to-date overview of the member states of each organisation. This special anniversary volume celebrates 60 years of publication of the Yearbook, and its contents differs from that of the regular volumes therefore. It offers a selection of the most important articles, dealing with European cooperation and integration, to appear in the Yearbook during its 60 years of publication. These are of particular interest not only because they provide a unique historical snapshot of the many successes (and occasional failures) in the field of European integration but also because they discuss the ideals and aims that lay behind these efforts, many of which still resonate today as Europe confronts questions about its political destiny and ideal shape. This volume contains articles in English and French."

Book Description
The 1968-1974 drought in the Sahel was an unprecedented catastrophe for the region, causing extensive crop failures, loss of human and animal populations, political instability, and the destruction of social and cultural structures. The response of the world to the catastrophe began with food aid donations from the Western nations and led to the fo
